A thread where ex PNG geriatrics lapuns and long longs can live in the dim distant past.

Where tall stories are accepted as fact.

War stories are applauded.

Grab a Brownie, pull up a story and join in a trip down memory lane!!!

And hedged their bet and created a little blackmail pressure by also asking China for another loan for the same amount.

And I thought we'd seen the last of 'cargo cult' back in the 70's!! Seems it's alive and well in the Pacific - even as far south as the Beehive!
happy days,

why so long for such a rotten outcome. Would have been interesting to be able to see one in the Darwin Aviation Museum.
Asbestos...all to costly to deal with?...before they were left to rot.

The Qantas Beaver at 9:24 m in, VH-EAS was owned by Qantas from 12 January 1955 and sold 22 January 1958, so that dates the film. VH-EAS became VH-AAP and was written off in an aerial agricultural accident at Goulburn on 23 August 1958.

Also at 9:24 Rafferty says to the pilot "So long Dick". The film is not clear but I wonder in real life the pilot may have been Dick Glassy? Correction, Dick worked for ADASTRA, Ansett MAL and Air Niugini, never Qantas.

Brad Potts NCA

Heard from a reliable source that Brad passed away yesterday in Lae.

I have no other details. This is very sad news, R.I.P. Pottsy and I’ll throw down a few SPs in memory of you.

2 Dogs?
In post #3041 you mentioned Graham Weir as a T&C with QF.
I saw on TV recently a 30 min docco a replay of his retirement flight as an A380 skipper with his son as R/H seat pilot for landing at Sydney.
