I wonder just how many of those 'private buyers' will be PNG Nationals?

They'll be politicians, so not strictly a 'buyer'.

Guess they'll be a thing to swan around Cairns in.....

OK, but Foreign Exchange regulations would make it difficult to transfer funds?
Too much time being spent on the Maserati's; more importantly what about the three (3) Bently's? at $600k AUD each
If the GG's Roller is anything to go by they won't be pretty for very long.

Latest news items indicate a Sri Lankan cricketer is central to the scam?

Allegedly the invoice for 40 cars:

Cut to the chase, who gets the money?

Talking of Maserati's and Bentley's ... lots of money being spent...

What about the Prime Minister's Department B350 King Air (P2-PNG) parked at Cairns for close to two years now. Is money owing to the MRO? and does the Govt. Air Wing have any type rated flight crew still on staff?

Not just 40 Maserati and 3 Bentleys, but it now emerges the order is for 500 vehicles:

208 Prados and Land Cruisers

88 HiLuxes
11 Forerunners
30 Rav 4s
23 Hyundai Accents
12 Ford Rangers and Everests
40 Maseratis
80 Mahindras
3 Bentleys
5 Mazda BT50s

TOTAL 500

Enough there to carry all the delegates and their wan toks!

Thumbs down

In the meantime, I guess that the jungle continues to take back all the bush strips, more school buildings collapse from lack of maintenance, the potholes in streets get bigger and deeper............

Etc etc etc....

On a lighter note, the Third Talair reunion last Friday night was a great success, well done Peter E. Heaps turned up, the drink flowed and many stories re told. The smiles and laughter throughout the night tells the real story of a great bunch of guys and gals, not just Talair but the general PNG aviation fraternity. Cheers to all.

Fast cars and no brains?
Word is out that some of the Maserati's, which are diesel powered have been topped up with automotive petrol. I'm told that's not good?

Ahh!
Seem to recall a story, come Independence Day; the Aussie's offered all the plates to the new PNG government; but they were declined with a somewhat now familiar statement "we don't need them we'll make our own and so 40+ years down the track ....

APEC - drunken soldier stole a 70 seat Bus, an APEC gift and wrote it off earlier this week....

Poor bugger mai Kantri

Excuse the mixture of language. You know...I actually once thought of that place as 'home,' even though my time there was all too bloody short. Original intention was to stay there, as I fell in love with the place!
