We were talking about Larry Daniels a few postings ago. Just received the following from Trevor Michie's PNG Gossip newsletter.
quote
** Luke Lucas **
Luke Lucas has the following contribution to the newsletter. It will be of interest to all Territorians and those that have high speed access to the Internet. Many people will remember Luke from the time when he was the PNG Electoral Commissioner and the owner of Agnes Cooking Pot in Boroko.
quote --
I just put two videos on my website under the heading "Videos" which feature all the songs by Larry Daniels, one time night club owner in Port Moresby. Songs such as; Kai kai the buai, Streets of Mt Hagen etc.
These files are not small but that's the only way I could get the music out.
Luke

If you are interested then the following URL's will be helpful --

Hanoi,
Do you want it to complete a collection or for another reason. I have it but it is part of a complete set (up to I can't remember when...) and I couldn't break it up. "On loan" is a possibility.

Just caught up with 10 pages of great posts. I went a bit cranky on this for a few months. Yorkie was my bestmate in Yugimi....he was a great guy if ya made the effort to get to know him! ! EXcellent engineer....still keep in touch with his family. His son Daniel was tragically killed in a car accident 3 years ago in Qld. A sad loss to Kerin and the girls.
Spent a lot of time in the hangar and BBQ'ing at their 9 mile home.
Yorkie was also a wonderful and generous friend to may folks!...did me and many, a lot of favors.....ones we can't return now.
A bit of history...P2-BOX I watched being repaired after another bent ass end. That also happened in West Oz pre 1974 ......based at Jandakot owned by a guy named Tim Russell...dunno who the pilot was. It arrived PNG (painted blue/white....not yellow) about '75/76.....may solve a small mystery
The "Tripela liklik pik na Liklik Retpela hat rebirth" just may have resurfaced after 30 years from this little wood duck. Credit to Supt. Mike Thomas. I still have the original 45's in their cover with the enclosed Pidgin and English printout of the story. Bought them in POM '74 or '75'. Perhaps they are the last copies around??
Best regards to all the expats ....I miss my home....cheers

P2-BOX is a different aircraft to the one you refer to. VH- FRB was the original reg for P2-BOX. Always been in PNG. VH-KTY is the one which had a couple of back breaking accidents. I have details, dates, etc. I dont think VH-KTY ever made it to PNG.

Aussio02,
Your version sounds more familiar than 69s's's's ....... I can certainly remember the callsign VH-FRB, lovingly referred to as F&*K Rat, B*stard.

VH-FRB Helio H-250 Courier MkII, c/n 2540 ex N6330V
Registered 27.01.1967 to Franciscan Mission, Aitape.
To P2-FRB 14.11.1974.
Crashed 28.05.1976 at Mount Hagen.
Restored and re-registered as P2-BOX (I do not have date), was with PNG Aviation Services P/L, Boroko.
Sold and registered to E. H. Mills, Gladstone, Tasmania as VH-LIW on 27.11.1990.
VH-KTY Helio H-295 Super Courier, c/n 1430 ex N6476V
Registered 16.07.1970 to P. T. Russell, Dalkeith, WA
Accident (broke back) 20.08.1970
Russell sold it to HDeH 24.09.1975 and so on until
31.03.1997, crashed at Lake Tilpa, NSW.
From memory, the super courier had a longer fuse and a small round window added. Airfast/Helicopter Utilities has 2 as well VH-UND and UNF.
Nice aircraft. Then they put a turbine in it and called it a Stallion.
Big customer was Air America. A 'nice' airline who operated in S/E Asia.

I demoed BOX to Hew Mills and then checked him out in the aircraft after he had paid Yorke for it...interesting fella....shall do a rego search and see if she still exists.
Search done...retired in QLD with aeroplane by the looks of it....think I'll write him a letter and organise a refresher
P2-COC to the right....Obscene Airways

Greetings Chuckles!
Just to let you know that the old 'b' is still with it! went out last week and assisted as helmsman-navigator in the 200nm Manila-Boracay Yacht Race in a new Beneteau 36.7 managing to post a win in both IRC & PY divisions. Thought of you a few times when we needed a twinkle-toes on the foredeck but we managed. Next effort is the President's Cup Regatta on Subic Bay in April.

I wondered where that photo came from...who's under the tail, me or Tony Gridley? If its an early 80s shot it could well be Tony when he flew it for his dad around the western province...if 1990 odd it will be me.
And the rest of the Obscene airways fleet...P2-TIT!!!
If I can get hold of Hew via snail mail I hopefully will get a couple more recent piccies of the old girl....maybe even another fly
Ahh the Old Dak...remember when for a short while it used to be ground run outside the old Dero by people who shall remain nameless ...until someone had a stack fire and everyone near ****!

Trouble in the Hagen Tower
Back in late 1990 I remember a certain very Blonde B200 pilot who then worked for Hevilift having an altercation with a female tower controller around a billard table. Bottom line is the young not so sobber lady was punched in the face by the said pilot. We were very entertained by the ensuing events when she was on duty in the tower and he would start the B200 and 'broadcast' his intentions because she as sure as s**t was not going to give him a clearance or even respond to his radio calls, that's inbound as well as outbound.
