A thread where ex PNG geriatrics lapuns and long longs can live in the dim distant past.

Where tall stories are accepted as fact.

War stories are applauded.

Looks like P2-Box to me woom, part of The Obscene Airways Group, consisting of P2-BOX, P2-COC and P2-TIT. And please, don't ruin my evening by mentioning Yorkie.

Yeah looks like BOX to me too...after Yorke had refurbished it he asked me to test fly it and then demonstrate it to potential buyers...which I did...was eventually bought be a Taswegian sheep 'farmer'. I taught him to fly it and then he headed off in it back to Taswegia. I have no idea what the Oz rego ended up being and heard years later he had pranged it in one of his paddocks.

Mighty interesting aeroplane to fly that one...truly a 'go anywhere' aeroplane in the right hands...if not a huge load hauler.

Chuck.

Wantoks, mates ..... and a few others ...... lift your SP Brownies to a truly great thread!!

20 pages, 783 posts, 43,375 page view!!

The time has come to slip the bonds of a stickied thread and let the thread float on it's merit. Feel free to continue to post to keep the thread alive, but if it should pass, like a recycled Bownie at the Dero toilets, in due course when you've all dreamed up more lies, I'll start a new thread.

Or you are welcome to do so!

Woomera

HELP!!! Bloody new software - anyone know how to Unstick a thread?????

The Pig in the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra is the former Comalco aircraft VH-BHK. It was originally painted in a blue and white scheme similar to DCA's VH-CAC. The blue on VH-BHK was later replaced by pink (a Pink Pig!) so someone at Comalco had a sense of humour. BHK now wears the livery of Queensland Airlines' P166B VH-PQA which ended its days on the Tulla fire dump. CAC ended her days at Bankstown when struck by a wayward Tobago in 1982.
Cheers

Thanks Fris. I'd only noticed the Pig colours in passing at Caloundra and thought it may be ex DCA.

Off with his head I say!

Chuck and Woomera,

I have no problem with whatever you put in pprune re the expulsion, though all I ask is that is is truthful, accurate and would stand adding to my book. I believe that the bad must be printed along with any good.
Cheers.

Besides, Woomera sets the rules here..............

On present schedule the evening of Thursday, May 18, 2006 may find me in your house of ill repute seeking repayment of the cold ales you owe me!

P2-box

Tinpis,
If that photo was taken in '68 it certainly wouldn't have been P2-BOX. I believe "obscene Airways" didn't eventuate til much later (was there a P2-BUM or P2-DIK too?).
I can remember the Helio-Courier being groundlooped in Hagen in the mid seventies but I think it was on a VH rego then, definitely not as P2-BOX

Mid '70's - pre 1976?

Yup, probably was VH registered.

P2 regos began at Independance, 1976.

Yep, '75 or '76. I think Moresby Aviation got hold of it after the loop and rebirthed it as BOX. If memory serves me correctly it was the first member of obscene airways fleet.

Remember it was Goof Whitless and his mob bought the whole show crashing down.
That makes two countries he stuffed Australia and PNG.
