As P2-EIE, thats got to be it. I flew it in Wewak in '75
Wonder who got it?
I seem to recall something about a seaplane prop being fitted to it.Would this have made it go like stink?
The boys in the hangar pretty well did what they wanted, if there was a prop laying around someone over smoko would have said "Lets put that bugger on"

tin,
here is an early shot of it. found this on the web.

I have checked the NZ,UK,US and Canada registers. There is no sign of it there. I guess it may still be in PNG in pieces somewhere.

And as far as the porter goes, Fitzy did fly it and there was one other. Buggered if I can remember his name but I think his first name was Ian????
He ended up getting a chopper license.
Maybe some-one else can fill in the missing info.
Also I have a pic of NAM when it was painted yellow and white. Used to fly it with Chee. Sort of bent it a little too, but that is another story.

Correct it is Paiela. Thanks a lot Chimbu Warrior.
And thanks also to Chimbu Chuckles for directing me to the thread.
But youse guys don't play fair !! I've spent the last 34 years thinking it was my sacred duty to imbibe sufficient spak to forget the scary bits and then this happens. Apparently a few rogue brain cells survived despite my application to the process, and this thread has caused all sorts of memories to come hurtling back. Like when you chunder so hard it tries to come out your nose at the same time. (Remember that?)
I thought I was coping until I saw the YouTube clip of the approach to Kanabea. That took me back to my short ( and certainly not illustrious ) tenure at the Catholic Mission of Yule Island. To think that as a 350 hour CPL I was flying into that for the princely sum of $1 a day !
Although to be more specific, it was $1 a day plus all the piss you could drink. Suffice to say, I got my wages by the alternate method.
If my hands stop shaking enough to type, I'll post some stories in due course, but in the meantime I'd be very grateful for a pic of Paiela.
