Any Angel Flight Pilots Here On PPRuNe?
Just been watching the Sunday Show on channel 9 this morning.
They had a great story about the Angel Flight Pilots in Australia.
These Pilots not only fly sick children all around Australia, but also do it at their own expense, with no subsidies at all, or even the ability to claim it off their tax.
IF there are any of you here, just wanted to say how how great it is that you do that..........

You are a good man B.B. You all make me proud to be an aviator.
I'll be putting a collection together from my work Colleagues on Friday in support of your excellent work. Anyone not dressed like an angel or actually being an angel will have to fork out a gold coin. I would like to see a lot of others doing the same, especially if you belong to a large employer.
Oz Ocker pull your head in. This is serious this time. They need our help.

Congratulations
Congratulations to all Angel Flight Pilots.
Seven or Eight years ago PPRuNe's "Bonzaman" instigated a similar program to Angel Flight which was called "The AOPA Family Reunion Scheme", (even though AOPA really had no interest in the program at the time), which was promoted throughout the Salvation Army, who decided those who were really in need of assistance. Bonzaman and myself, along with a few other select pilots conducted many flights including transporting sick, grieving and those less fortunate and in danger of physical harm to many ports throughout Australia. Some of these included such long flights as from Melbourne to Perth (twice), and all up the East Coast as well as several flights to Tasmania.
All these flights were at no cost to the recipient and were totally funded by Bonzaman and/or the other pilots.
I can attest that there is no greater satisfaction than helping out someone in need and combining that with your passion for aviation.

Dawnie must me refering to this:
Yes, that's me I never posted it on Prune because I did not know what response I would get.
It's a worthy cause and I get to do what I enjoy, flying.
Funny thing was that Helen asked me who paid for the fuel, I do I said, she was shocked that we had burt 240+ litres at $1.00+ per litre out of my own pocket. I did not have the heart to tell her about the other $100.00 per hour running costs
More Pruners should join up.

P.S. has the [img] been disabled?

I'm an Angel Flight pilot and have flown a few missions. It is a very worth cause and I highly recommend other pilots to consider signing up.
I noted with interest that the blonde lady who got evicted from Big Brother a few weeks back nominated Angel Flight as her charity of choice. Well done.

Great story NAP, and a terrific cause
One of our local pharmacies has a collection tin on the counter, and when I threw in all the gold coins I found floating about in the bottom of my handbag, I was really saddened to hear that there was an ominous clunk, associated with very few coins in the tin.
I relayed my disappointment to the sales assistant who explained that it was actually the 10th tin they were on for the week, the one I donated to being new that afternoon
I'm sure we've all got a bit of loose gold stuff weighing down our pockets and lining the ashtrays in our cars
Time to lighten the load eh?
Again, a terrific cause
Cheers

Actually, I have a suggestion for those who'd like to get involved as Pilots but money's a bit tight...
Why not do it with a mate and share the cost... or, line up an aircraft owner and ask them to contribute to your flight? If they are decent, they (after some thought on it) are more than happy to help out.
Does anyone know someone at a big newspaper/ TV station or something in NSW?? We have an AF coming up this week and we really want to help get the word out for Angel flight... not for us (we have good heads for radio ) but for them. There's room in the plane for a reporter/cameraperson.

I have been following Angel Flight since it's beginnings and I believe it is one of the most positive things I have seen in Aust. aviation in a long time. Congratulations to all involved!
