Airlines sponsoring foreigners in the USA

Good evening guys

I heard rumours that USA airlines are hiring or going to start hiring soon foreign pilots sponsoring them.

Anyone knows if this is true or if it's just the old rumours coming back?

Regards!

montema,

The US airlines are certainly hiring but whether they're sponsoring foreign pilots is doubtful. Even the US regionals that have, in the past, taken Aussies on E3 visas haven't announced they're taking any new Aussie candidates. In fact, Commutair for example says on their website they're not taking E3s at the moment:

So far, my impression is that it's just the standard sky-is-falling talk where pilot supply is concerned. Hiring lots of pilots doesn't necessarily mean they're short of pilots. The whole thing is worth watching though.

Thanks Bafanguy, that's exactly what I was wondering. I will be keeping an eye on it as I've heard it from some people now but it doesn't look that easy... just can't be. Everyone I know working there has waited for years before getting the opportunity to stay.

Apparently from yesterday, foreign pilots are eligible for EB2 visa... interesting! :)

Well if it was on LinkedIn it must be true.

It’s not true. Hope no one is risking their E3 Visa on this venture, if it’s denied which it likely will be, you’ll be sent home.

Hello,
I'm Canadian and currently flying the 737 in the arctic. Also have a 4 years bachelor degree.

I want to relocate in the USA next year, what are my options (after converting to FAA)?

So far I found two ways : trough a regional that sponsors visa- or get a green card trough a complicated process (lawyers and $$$)

Thanks

Chatting with a buddy who is at National/N8 he said they hired a number of Aussies on the 744F and they are in class now... Private owner and pay and conditions are low for the 744 and lots of churn lately so suspect the owner wants to keep folks around without upin the pay... From what I understand the E3 is tide to the Company and in turn keeps the folks there... That was current info as of yesterday...

jcd,

Did your friend say what background the National Aussie E3s have...straight from Australia with no "pit stop" at a US regional...previous large turbojet experience ? I'm assuming they are E3s ?

Their website doesn't reveal much related to hiring non-US citizens.

This from 6 days ago? US passport required ?:

• A valid US passport allowing unrestricted travel;
• The unrestricted right to live and work in US;

And this from an unknown date:

" Legally authorized to work in the United States." and a US passport required.

Ref Natl/N8 from what I understood it was a "Networking" deal where as a close connection to N8 Management knew a number of Aussies who were available... No details... Different fleets there are like different Companies, not much cross talk unless in the Head Shed... Sorry no details...

A lot of guys assume, its not on the website so its not happening!!! Aviation has never worked that way.. Those E3s are going pretty much everywhere now.

Actually I wrote to them and asked. Reply stated that they’re not doing it. Before you ask, it wasn’t a human remains minion but a management pilot.

I am deeply sceptical of National having a bunch of Australians start recently. I am in the USA right now and news like that spreads fast through the Aussie pilot community here. If it is true it's the best kept secret in aviation!
