flight examiner...

good day all

i am a 15 000 hr ATPL (9 000 hrs 737) , in addition i held a grade 1 flight instructor rating and was a SACAA approved flight examiner...
in feb 2020 i was declared medically unfit - this is likely to be permanent!
according to regs in South Africa i am able to do instruction on all FSTD but no testing!

what i would like to know is can "flight examiners" who have lost their flight medicals still test on FSTD's / Aircraft? (in the USA)

thanks for the help

Apparently, FAA inspectors don't have to hold a medical to issue a type rating but that's FAA. Not sure about what the FAA calls Aircrew Program Designee (APD) for a Part 121 operator. Found this but it doesn't answer your question. The link at the end of this page contains an email address for asking such questions...maybe it'd help. Do you have the legal ability to live/work in the USA ?

It’s 61.23(3)3) Must hold at least a third-class medical certificate—

....

(iv) When performing the duties as an Examiner in an aircraft when administering a practical test or proficiency check for an airman certificate, rating, or authorization.

You don’t need a medical as the candidate or instructor in a sim.
