FAA ATP/Dornier 328-100 type rating

Hello everyone, i needed some help/advice on this. I have just completed my FAA ATP CTP and knowledge test. The company that i work for in Africa is sending me for a Dornier 328-100 type rating at CAE Madrid. I had wanted to obtain an FAA ATP and add the Dornier 328-100 type to my certificate, but it appears that the sim is only EASA approved and not FAA. I am thinking of a way out might be to complete the training at Madrid then proceed to CAE Toronto to do an FAA checkride for the issuance of the the FAA ATP and type. Am told there is only one FAA approved sim and that is at CAE Toronto. Any suggestions or help on this please

You can't just show up at Toronto and do a checkride; you'll have to go through some type of "FAR" 142 program. Good news is both facilities are CAE; there might be some provision for this that will take your EASA sim training into account. You need to call CAE and ask. I'd talk to someone at the program manager level.

Over the last 2weeks, i have been researching on this issue. The regs allows you to credit part of your flight trainings received from an ICAO country and by flight instructor approved by that CAA towards meeting the requirements for an FAA checkride. The only obstacle to this is the part 142 schools who want to ensure the de-dollarize you before you can get an FAA ATP/type rating from them.
