"A United Airlines flight was forced to return to Washington, D.C., after a passenger failed to comply with crew instructions, a spokesperson for the airline said today.

Flight 1074 en route to Denver returned to Dulles International Airport shortly after takeoff late Monday. The pilots told air traffic controllers that the passenger became violent but was restrained by passengers, according to LiveATC.net.

"He ran forward towards the cockpit and he is being restrained by passengers," said one of the pilots. "Cockpit is secure and we would like to return to the airport and have the authorities meet him."

Law enforcement in Washington met the plane at the gate and detained the passenger, according to a statement from United Airlines. The passenger was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation, said a spokesperson for the airport."

Which one is it?

three fat bald blokes
"I'm NOT bald! I just choose to have a very short haircut!"

Anyhoo; good reaction - place under control and worry about the reason afterwards :ok:

The only place I've seen it called a hijack, failed or otherwise, is right here on good ole PPrune; but maybe I missed something. Why did the OP think that was necessary, in the face of all the evidence that it was a relatively minor incident involving a disturbed passenger? Down to JB?

TWT 17th Mar 2015 11:28

JB won't be interested.Just lock it.

AtomKraft 17th Mar 2015 11:32

I'm not BALD!

I just have a big face...:p

mattpilot 17th Mar 2015 12:41

My apologies for posting a link to a rumour on a rumour site. That it didnt turn out as originally speculated is of course clearly my fault.

Anyhow .. the OP on reddit had some videos up that he apparently has taken down due to selling to the media. His initial report was about the man runnng to the front of the plane yelling "jihad jihad" - i guess inspiring the label hijack.

Lock the thread, delete it .. whatever. Lets go back discussing old news.
