Air America Flight Centre - Daytona

Anyone been to this school recently? How would you rate the fleet, instructors, environment, Daytona?

I am in communication with AAFC to do some time building..

Seem to be relatively cheap (i'm on a budget - but not on a budget that would be dangerous to flight safety!), would like to enjoy the flying also and head out to Key West, QX Flights etc - maybe bahamas?

Anyone had any experience with AAFC?

They are answering emails well, had a long phone conversation with one of the instructors and then sent some follow up emails too.. got responses back in writing!

Only issue they seem to raise is that when renting you are not allowed to fly to the Bahamas unless you are FAA IR Rated.. but can fly to Key West!

Wondered why?

I've rented their Arrow a few times. The other arrow is a bit ratty, 456RR is fine. Cheap. Typical facilities for a South Florida operation. Everything worked as agreed. I would recommend them.

Unfortunately they are not very flexible with hour building apart from the usual "build the same hour 50 times" method. So Caribbean etc are out.
But for buzzing around Florida, why not.

Are we talking about the same place?

This one.

My understanding is that they have the C172 Analogue, C172 SP and the C172 G1000 available for hours building only.

They did state that I can go down to key west around florida etc but cant go to the bahamas.

What do you make of this?

Yep, same place.

Flying around Florida gets a bit old after a while. The only things that are interesting are flying to Key West, and doing a touch and go at KMIA (highly recommended, fun experience operating around a very busy Class B).

They have a big selection of airplanes. 4 hour daily minimum, negotiable during the quiet times.

I suppose I wont be able to go anywhere other than Florida??

Like Grand Canyon for example or Canada..

i looked at them because they offered competitive rates.

Who else would you recommend looking in to?
