US Airports security increased over Terrorist magazine article Dec 2014 issue

"Washington (CNN)The Department of Homeland Security has announced ramped up searches at U.S. airports, though the measures actually began a few weeks ago, a government official told CNN on Tuesday (Jan 13, 2015).

The enhanced measures for airport security are in response to a recent article in ***** Magazine, a publication by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which described how to make homemade bombs using household products.

According to the official, the concern to aviation security stems from the threat of non-metallic IEDs only detectable by full body scanners, a technology that is not available at smaller airports, largely due to their cost.

The ramped up TSA measures include random passenger and luggage searches at the gate once passengers have gone through security checkpoint."

Fox news: Al Qaeda is urging “lone wolf” bomb attacks on western airlines.

***** Magazine, a terrorist journal, named American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta, Continental, British Airways, Air France and EasyJet as potential targets.

The terror magazine also called for killing "economic personalities" like Ben Bernanke or "wealthy entrepreneurs" like Bill Gates.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, launched the English-language magazine in 2010 to recruit Western Muslims into its terror ranks. Early articles encouraged attacks such as opening fire at a Washington, DC, restaurant or using a pickup truck to “mow down” pedestrians.

The latest issue is devoted to inspiring lone-wolf jihadists in the United States and the West to attack commercial passenger planes, according to HSToday.us, a blog on US homeland security.

The magazine gives detailed, illustrated instructions on how to build bombs in the kitchen. It says the devices can be “hidden” not only on aircraft, but used to blow up other targets to “crush” Western economies.

“We came up with these simple materials that are readily available around the globe, even inside America,” it states.
Mike Baker, former CIA covert operations officer, said the article “combines their two favorite things at the moment – it’s airline attacks and the idea of call to arms to the individual.”

Baker said officials do what they can to minimize attacks in the U.S., but said “in counter-terrorism, you never get the risk down to zero.”

Have you got Al Qaeda's phone number? I may be annoyed by the airline industry, but I won't be acting on their urging. I'll suggest they instead pursue a more robust spirituality so that they aren't so angry anymore. :hmm:
