Best flight training in Florida (quality, cost, instructor,...)
 

Hello all,
I search for a flight training in Florida. I've already a lot of website of many school but I don't arrive to choose. :confused::confused:
So if there is anyone who have some suggest, explain me :):)
I'm already in the US, in Florida now.

I would check out the smaller airports first..Less traffic, better prices..
..And under no circumstance, do NOT make big payments in advance..

Air America Flight Center, in Daytona is VERY cheap. I don't know about their level of training though.

EFT have this new all inclusive EASA training offer: 120000$ ALL inclusive. That also covers any extra training you may need, extra checkrides, licence fees, accomodation etc.

If you have enough money to invest in your training I would strongly reccomend to look at Aerosim in Sanford and FlightSafety Academy in Vero Beach. They are top schools but expensive.

I attended Sunstate Aviation for my Commercial Check ride. Everything went well besides 1on1 review for the oral of my check ride. They did refund me some money because of it. Besides that, Staff is friendly and willing to help, it is class D and right next to Orlando class C air space, planes are well maintained, and a good selection of places to stay in the area.

Are you looking for EASA or FAA flight training? Is your visa suitable for it?

Air America in Daytona Beach is a nice little flight school. And very cheap too. No EASA though.

EFT has very impressive facilities, and the airport seems nice too.

Florida Aviation Career Training is a very good school, and I think their rates are reasonable. St. Augustine KSGJ.

I want to get my 32 yr old Orlando based son a trial flying lesson for Xmas but my concern is above all ( above cost too) is to get him the very safest, best qualified, professional instructors and impeccably maintained aircraft.

I would so very much appreciate your recommendations in the immediate Orlando area.

I know he is going to love this present but I need to be sure I am getting him the best.

I note someone below has recommended Aerosim --- comments on this ?
Or others ?

Very best, best-maintained aircraft crash sometimes, too. Now that you feel much better, try Spectrum Aviation in Daytona.

Susan, Traxair is a well known flight school at the Orlando Executive Airport. They offer "discovery flights" which is what you are interested in.

Sounds good though..but back to your thread on Aerocadet..um..um..i am now thinking hard because I did consider Aerocadet to be my destination flight school..

any latest on them both? (Aerocadet & Javeline flight program)

Sorry, but I don't have any new information on those schools.

The best general advice that I can give is to stay away from flight schools and charter companies in south Florida.

Tailwheels Etc (Florida Flight School- ORIGINAL Accelerated Flight Training Program) was voted to AOPAs honor roll for top flight schools.

Every word read on PPRuNe is hearsay. Notice I said "general" above. There certainly are exceptions.

Come to S. Florida and invest a few tens of thousands of dollars and find out.

Any non American students wishing to undertake flight training in the US must go to a sevis approved school to receive a formal certificate. These schools aren't exactly numerous and I'm sure the heads up is well appreciated by a great many (including myself) but are you really claiming that all schools situated in S Florida will deceive you? I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm purely trying to clarify what you mean.

I said a "general statement" and "there are exceptions," meaning that not all schools in south Florida are bad, but finding a good one can be a challenge.

"South Florida" usually means the east coast of Florida south of Melbourne.

I know of two flight schools in northeast Florida that specialize in foreign students and there are some in the Orlando area and the Daytona Beach area.

Well theres my one thing that I've learnt today, I figured anything south of the 'Tampa-Melbourne' line would have been called south Florida. Ha, still can't get my head around what you guys refer to as 'The Mid West'....

Very informative though! What schools would you recommend for Florida? Would I be right in saying that most of these schools are filled with Indian students? I suppose it's hard to find a decent school with honest hardworking people these days. Nothing against Indian people but if there is a large presence it kind of suggests the school is a scam and should be stayed clear of. Would you agree?

BTW- the school you previously mentioned (Florida aviation career training) looks promising.

I changed it to south of Melbourne. This of course is subjective. Try to get New Yorkers to agree on a definition of "upstate New York." :uhoh:

People who live on the south west coast of Florida don't like to be included in "south Florida" because of its association with drug trafficking, financial scams, etc.

FACT is a good school.

Another good school is Epic Flight Academy in New Smyrna Beach.

That may be true about schools that cater to India.

I think Epic has a huge Indian student base. They were one of the first schools I contacted but I just felt the level of marketing and recruiters they utilised screamed 'stay away'.

:eek: Finding a suitable school to do a PPL at while not actually visiting the school seems to be a real challenge!:ugh:
