This question comes up once a month in the "FAA ATP questions" sticky.

1. You have your CAA verify your license to the FAA.
2. You complete the TSA background check
3. You pass the FAA knowledge (written) test.
4. You get a FAA medical certificate (if you are going to fly the checkride in an airplane, not required for sim.)
5. You train for the FAA checkride.
6. You pass the FAA checkride.

The rules will change in August of this year. If you have not passed your knowledge test by that time, you will have to complete a week long ground school to sit the FAA written.
