Central USA Jet-A fuel contamination

According to FAA notice #NOTC7510, there is a fuel contamination issue in the central U.S. of unknown source which has caused engine flameouts. So far I have not been able to locate any other details. Does anyone have more information?

Text of the FAA notice is below. I apologize for the caps, but that's the way it arrived.

THE FAA IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING A FUEL CONTAMINATION PROBLEM THAT HAS RECENTLY APPEARED IN JET FUEL WI THE CENTRAL U.S. THE EXACT SOURCE AND THE GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE OF THE CONTAMINATION IS UNKNOWN. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF BLOCKAGES IN FUEL FILTERS, FUEL NOZZLES, AND FUEL TANKS.

THIS HAS RESULTED IN SEVERAL ENGINE FLAMEOUTS AND OTHER ERRATIC ENGINE OPS.

ALL OPERATORS ARE ADZ TO CLOSELY FOLLOW FUEL SAMPLING PROC AND REPORT ANY DISCOVERY OF CONTAMINATION OR ERRATIC ENGINE OPS TO THEIR FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE OR NEAREST FAA FACILITY.

It's apparently a local issue at Omaha only, but until the FAA can be certain that it's limited to a specific tank/airport, and not the distribution system, the notice goes out.

There was a similar incident with Avgas contamination in the Northeast a few months ago (metal dust), but that came from the fuel farm and affected a wide area, so I'm sure that' still on their minds.

Thanks Matvey. Yeah, I just got the followup from the FAA that says "substantial evidence" indicates the contamination was isolated to Omaha Eppley during the time period Nov 18-20. They think only GA and military aircraft were affected.

Strange; I wouldn't have thought that Eppley gets much military traffic since Offutt AFB is right next door and seems like a more suitable place for such things?

Change case

Word processors often have a change case button. In MS Word it is [shift]F3.

Of course(?) FAA, WI, U.S. etc are not automagically fixed up :-(

It's a while since I tried it so here goes -

The faa is currently investigating a fuel contamination problem that has recently appeared in jet fuel WI the central u.s. The exact source and the geographical scope of the contamination is unknown. There have been reports of blockages in fuel filters, fuel nozzles, and fuel tanks.

This has resulted in several engine flameouts and other erratic engine ops.

All operators are adz to closely follow fuel sampling proc and report any discovery of contamination or erratic engine ops to their flight standards district office or nearest faa facility.
