The pilot union or the guys who run/own the show?
Is the HEL based planned on purely contract pilots with no chance of integration into DY?

A very expensive failure is in the cards for anyone dumb enough to think that the traveling public in the very limited market area Finland will jump on anything foreign because it seems cheap.
Check what happened with Sterling and their announced HEL base on the same routes as Norwegian is marketing today, never got around to start up as the domestic carriers reacted with fares and routes.
Finnish customers seem to think that finnish carriers/crew are the the best there is. As the pool of potential passengers from Finland is small enough with the amount of people wanting to visit even smaller, the business idea seems a bit shaky. Add to that the feast of the press explaining how Norwegian is trying to run a show with self-sponsored trainees on a 737 with paying passengers.
The market objective seems to be to enter the same routes as Blue1 is operating today, apparently trying to hit SAS. The problem is that finnish passengers usually are as nationalistic as norwegians. Also the limited amount of passengers/trips made is a problem as people tend to get the few miles they can on their freq. flyer programs.
If the market idea is to code-share with AY and feed their Asia-strategy Norwegian might find themselves f...ed if the crewingscenario you are describing takes place.

I have information that directly contradicts what you are saying.

My understanding is that the union has stated that there will be no permanent contracts as long as there are contract pilots (including HEL)

On a direct question a NAS manager stated that there will continued recruitment for all bases but no one one permanent contracts and the pilots in HEL should be no different. My understanding is that many of issues haven't been decided yet and it's simply to early to say either way.

What ever happens when the finnish contracts end can of course be debated but it doesn't seem that different to CPH in practical terms.

Not saying you are wrong but there is clearly more than one story out there

Just want to say, a lot of ex Sterling Captains diden´t got any permanent employment or contract´s in 2009 after 6 month contract,eventhough there where promised an employemet. The only one who got employed was them that had contact´s in the management.
After 6 month contract, no sound from the management..

So those pilots who have a job, and are thinking of a contract with Norwegian for 6 month, hoping for an employement, think twice - Maybe it´s better to stay where you are than get unemployed...

Norwegian is a god company to work for, but thay dont care about you after 6 month´s if you dont have any contact´s inside.

Kilo club, you have wrong info.

There will be no ban to recruit pilots to permanent employment in no/swe/dk.

If Norwegian need more pilots on these bases it will have to be permanent employent.

It will not be granted any further contract pilots as long as HEL base are manned with contractors.

There are absolutely no agreement to enroll HEL based pilots on the pilots seniority list. None! Not now - not in the future.

For CPH base, an agreement was in place which led to permanent employment after 6 month. No such agrement for HEL pilots.

Pay will depend on your experience on 737/MD80 size aircraft and total flight time.

Last time I was in touch with the HR department (one month ago) they had 4700 people in the database. However, you get into NAS via the backdoor. The online database is just an excuse so they can continue their internal family recruitment :E ...No big deal that it's gone. ;)
