Norwegian / Sterling

I see that DY and NB will start codesharing again. As I read it they will start codesharing on OSL- CPH (to be operated by DY) and ARN-CPH (operated by NB). Further more they will at least partly split the ARN marked , DY taking care of Domestic and NB going for the international routes.

Any inside news from either company on what this will mean with regard to staff reductions etc

Any further rumours on the two airlines cooperating . Future merger etc ??

Oslo

Sterling are closing down OSL base and increasing on ARN base.

They were doing a codeshare last year, but appearently DY dropped it because they wanted "more cheap tickets to everyone". But does this new codeshare then translate into "more expensive tickets for everyone"? :confused::}

The real losers are the norwegian.se pilots, we will ground 4 of 10 aircraft in this deal just so norwegian.no can get the danes of thier back in OSL, so take lesson from us: pilot sallarys means **** when it comes to secureing jobs

Too bad for the .se-pilots! Weird industry... Clearly your enemy from yesterday is your friend today... Good luck to the people at the ARN-base!

They probably need to do something fast and consolidate before the big boys are coming to the Scandinavian market! easyJet are coming to Norway now and have just stated that an expansion into the Norwegian market is just around the corner ;)

13thstage,

Always remember the saying; " If you can't beat them, join them" :ok:

I have seen the EZY strategy plan up to 2016 and the plan says that no later than 2016 - 25 planes will be based in Scandinavia :ok:

The Flying Cokeman 22nd Jul 2008 20:49

It is an inside the company strategy plan that some of us have got hold so I'm not sure how public it is?
The question is if EZY is gonna stick to the plan all the way to 2016 if they do it is certainly true.. They are saying that despite the fuel price they are gonna stick to all their plane orders. So I think the odds are very good.
Don't forget it says Scandinavia so it could be any of the countries.

:ouch:

Hank the F/C 23rd Jul 2008 13:17

The Flying Cokeman 23rd Jul 2008 15:47

RTO,

Never the less they have a strategy for 2016, maybe that's one of the many reasons why EZY have success and Scandinavian carriers have none :hmm:

Look at Sterling, look at SAS, or look at all the Swedish airlines that have gone bust the last many years..... Norwegian, shares down by nearly 70% etc.

Look at new routes with EZY to Finland, Stockhom and existing routes to Denmark. Norway next? Look at this thread:

Boarding.no : Norge kan bli neste for easyJet

Anyway time will tell, let's discuss this in no later than 2016, and we'll se who's right.... ;)

Well don't wan't to steal this thread about EZY really so over and out :)
