Hello gents

A friend of mine back from a TR course told me that the above airline might be looking for staff...

Anyone from inside who knows who's who and if hiring is rolling (req's and minimuns are welcome) or not?

If you mean Sunair the company that is operating as British airways or that british airways owns the answer is YES ;)

I found the info at http://www.sunair.dk but everything it's in Danish so i will translate for you what i found.

Minimums are;

-B + I certificate (i supose they mean a CPL+IR)
-D theory (i also supose they mean the CPL theorical) :ooh:
-Check on twin engine flight
-Minimum 500 flight hours, of witch minimum 50 hours has to be on twin engine aircraft
-Have an MCC course

However the guy that alerted me is Yank and flies for them so language might not be a priority issue. Of course I'll put my best effort to learn something if they take me on...:E

Anyone know what crew bases Sun Air has? And how is their roster and qol?

I think they only have their bases at Denmark at Jylland,Billund, Århus and Aalborg, or maybe just at Jylland. Not really sure. But what i know is that they travel to 13 different places and to start with them for a first time jobb is not bad at all.:cool: After some years working you could go to a bigger airline.

They travel to and from;
Billund - Birmingham
Billund - Bruselles
Billund - Düsseldorf
Billund - Gotheburg
Billund - Helsinki
Billund - Manchester
Billund - Oslo
Billund - Paris
Billund - Prag
Aalborg - Oslo
Århus - Gothenburg

I haven't seen any flight that ends outside denmark so i belive that in the Roster part you allways get back home. But try to check directly with them about the roster and see, i'm sorry that i don't have any kind of info about it.

No need to work as a handler before being considered for F/O position anymore?

Handler?? You mean with the baggage?? :confused:

Can't believe somewhere it still works this way...Nothing wrong with the good will, I mean but I wonder how many handlers have licenses under their belt and can afford to stay one year or more moving suitcases. Moreover what happens when the crew turnover is higher than then wannabes available?

Seriously: are we talking about flight deck position or not?

i don't know exactlly how this is working with in the companies, but in Sunair they don't comment anything about being a baggage handler before working as a pilot..As you can read in my previous post those where the requierements.. have the licenses and 500 hours or more..

i saw you have both JAA/FAA licence and i'm just about to get started with everything, so you may know better than me.. The info i got was from their website and i just translated what it was writen in to english.

Unless you are captain material you can only join the company by starting as a handler. All handlers are pilots on a waiting list to become F/O's and you have to pay about 10.000 £ for the typerating too.

I see... but this also applies to people with for eg. 1500hours or more?? Is the first time i hear something like this, is this happening only in smaller companies like sunair or also in the big ones?? :sad:

Hello again...and Happy landing into 2007!

I wish to underline that there is nothing wrong in working in ground ops while earning your licenses or after you got the to keep yourself in the loop. My point is that once you meet the criteria that's it: you go for the selection an if you get a pass then you should be in your way for the TR. If after being selected you HAVE TO work as handler, then it should be in the criterias so anyone can make a choice.
