I would like to know what kind of salary I can expect (after tax), Is it a good company to work for?

did they interview on friday 13th?

Most of the time the company is OK. 12-9 Schedule.

A Jetstream rating is actually one of the cheapest you can buy and it will give you a better chance of getting a job than buying a B737 rating:)

Can someone please tell me if 285000 NOK is a good/bad salary in Norway.

As far as paying your own typeratying in coastair, this was the bad idea of a (ex)chief pilot who now fly's in norwgian an is no longer done. you now sign a bond for 3 years for 150.000 Norwegian kroner

Now i know this probably is an idiot q, but since i havent started the wonderful life of pilotjob searching yet ill ask it anyway, what does the bond that coastair operate with means? do they "give" you the rating and then deduct it from your salary?

Depends. NOK 300.000 is not much when you consider that my wife as a kindergarden head mistress takes in 400.000, and they are considered low wagers although she has sligthly more than the norm.
Norway is expensive. Depending on your base, renting a reasonable apartment could cost you between 1/4 to 1/2 of your net wages as mentioned above. Then you have transportation. Cars are frightfully expensive. Wifey just took delivery of a Suzuki Grand Viagra with all the bells and whistles. NOK 400.000. Petrol/diesel NOK 10-11/litre.
Quit smoking and any alcoholic habits you may have established. Fags are close to NOK 70 for 20, 0.7 litres of normal Scotch NOK 340. Pint of lager at a pub, gee don't know...around NOK 50? 60?
And the list goes on and on and on. It all boils down to what you consider "normal living".

And remember that 28% of the interest of all the loans you may have are tax deductible. So lets say you have a loan of approx 500k Nok ( 60K Euros) with a bank interest of 5 % p.a.

5% of 500 000 = 25000 p.a
You can deduct 28% of 25000 which is 7000 p.a or approx 600,- pr month.

And lets say you are working 20 days pr month. That would make it: 20*500=10 000,- .

So if you use 16313 (ref. pilot dude) as your net income pr. month you will basicly have close to 27000 net pr month all included which is from my point of view not bad at all.

Per diems are not tax free. This depends on where you fly/stay. Some of it is tax free, about 30% if you stay in a company flat away from base.

Expect to work out of your base, and pay your own hotell or flat. None of the per diems are tax free if you get "home" in the evening.

Should I pay for hotel when out of base??? Well I just hope that I upgadade to captain fairly quickly.

Just one last question. I am from Greece, Will I have any problems with rascism in Norway?

with regard to the bonding, coast air pays the rating and if you dont leave you dont pay anything. if you do leave you pay 1/36th for every month you leave before your 3 year contract for bonding is up.

with regards to the per diem. You work 17.14 days a month (12/9) schedule and you spend an avarage of 4 nights a month at your homebase (HAU) where we have a hoteldeal for 300 kroner a night. those nights you dont get tax free per diem. but if you dont live in HAU you can deduct hotel plus food at the end of the year. so you get the money back at the end, if you are away from base you get your hotel payed. almost no pilots live at the homebase

In coastair you also get after 6 months staff travel with SAS and Finnair so you can travel to greece in your free periode of 9 days for about 1500 kroner. there is also a taks deduction for traveling home from your work at 1.5 kroner a Km but im sure that doesn't work all the way to greece:)

if you work extra in the 9 free days they pay you extra aprox 2000 NOK a day. so you can earn extra by selling som free days

All in all it is not the best payed job in the world but for a commuter job it is quite OK.

Did you talk to them already couse they might need some more pilots in the future since norwegian needs 60 pilots so some pilots might leave
