SAS on strike?

Tjena-

Forgive my ignorance but is SAS going on strike on wed or thursday? My mom is on her way back over and had to change her ticket because of the strike. What are some of the issues behind the strike?

thanks SP

No strike anymore, an agreement was reached yesterday.

Reason behind the strike? I believ the cabin crew wanted more time to rest during the turnarounds (which surprises me because everytime I'm at an airport the same time as a SAS aircraft, we turn around a lot faster than them!) and also more time off in general, fatigued etc...

How short turnaround times does your company operate with, FatMan?

SAS operates with different turnaround times. In Norway itīs often as short as 25 min and in Sweden they are down to 20 min at smaller airports. This is very short for a network operator.

Pilots have their meals onboard most of the time.
Cabin crews canīt really have their meals onboard because of the short turnarounds and because they have to take care of the pax during cruise.

While working for 8-10-12 hours a day itīs not surprising that they want time to eat. I just hope that they found a solution that allows us to continue with effective scheduling.

SAS also have very short turnaround times on their European services, sometimes as little as half an hour! As for the domestic services, around 20 to 25 minutes for MD80 and Boeing 737 aircraft! Sometimes even shorter than Ryanair!
