Re: Air Finland Interview
All Finns been banned from here or.... :(
JiiÄrrä. |
Re: Air Finland Interview
If you look back for a year or so most Finns got upset about PPRUNEs decisions about their postings. Too bad that only country in the north with growing aviation business was practically banned...

Re: Air Finland Interview
As far as I know, no-one was banned!
Problem was, that a lot of the finnish guys/girls wasn't too happy about putting in the effort to write their posts in english, so that also non-finnish-speaking people visiting the forum would understand their writings. When this was pointed out to them, they went sour and stopped posting. Can't see the problem, really. Except that this forum has lost a chunk of (maybe) valuable info regarding finnish aviation. Which is bad enough, I s'pose. But on the other hand, I didn't get any of the stuff written in finnish anyhow, so....... However,.....I fail to see why a "growing aviation business" should be a free-ticket from doing what a vast majority of the other posters on this forum does; Write in english! Regards, An2:8 |
Re: Air Finland Interview
Well, I believe that it's mostly the matter of principle.
This forum is named as the "nordic forum" and it is allowed to write here in swedish, danish, norwegian but not in finnish language. :suspect: I really wouldn't mind writing more often here, in english, if all other nordic pilots would do so. However, banning one of the languages that undoubtly belongs among the "nordic" countries is simply discriminating. The other thing is: We have an excellent aviation forum in Finland. This forum is called FS Nordic. http://www.fsnordic.net Your postings are allowed in finnish, "scandinavian" and english. Even it was originally intended for the flight simulator "freaks", it's nowdays discovered by the others as well. Finally, back to the original topic: I heard that the company has made their selections for the interviews (so far only). They have interviewed quite a few co-pilot applicants and some sim-sessions and psycho testing has already been conducted. The rumor says 4-6 new hires will be selected in near future. As far as I know, two new hires has already started their 757 type rating course in December. I wish the best of the luck all of them, concratulations to all those who were (or will be) selected; B757 is such a wonderful aircraft... :) |
Thanks for the information Aviate378:ok:
Not sure about the rumours that all are taken in already, think a few guys are still waiting to get interviewed........unless they got shafted:( I believe that on a nordic forum you should be allowed to post in any nordic language......isn't that the whole idea?? Jr. |
"I believe that on a nordic forum you should be allowed to post in any nordic language......isn't that the whole idea??"
Näin se homma etenee... Samaa mieltä... Päivän jatkoja! ;) ;) |
I guess anyone can write in any nordic language they wish on the Nordic Site however we must realize that most Scandinavians are not able to read Finnish since it is so far distant from the other Nordic languages. So if it is written in Finnish it will probably just be read by finnish people!!! (I might be wrong but aren't Finnish people able to read and write in Swedish?)
|
I guess that more Finns speak and write english than swedish.
|
I would agree on no finnish if the forum would be called Scandinavian forum as Finland is not part Scandinavia but as long as it remains Nordic forum I don't really understand why you can't post in finnish.
When I read posts in Norwegian or Danish there are many words that I don't have a clue about. But if I'm interested I'll just PM the person in question and politely ask for a english version, works for me. Shouldn't be banned but optional. Maybe all non-finnish speaking ppruners could see it as an introduction to the finnish language...you never know, it might score you a job one day :ok: Se on moro, Jr. |
Well, Jr, not many posts are written in Noggie-, Dane-, or Swedo-lingo!! True!?:hmm:
Besides the odd "cut`n´paste"-job from a newsrag, I mean! ;) But, before finnish was "banned" from the forum, there were finnish posts popping up left, right and center!! ...and there's the difference. Nothing to start a fuzz over, really,......if you think about it. C'mon now,... let's all hold hands and sing together!!!:E |

Simmer down boys....
there are even rumours the "big" Finn is cutting their finnspeak requirement in the coming month... lets keep things civilized in here and use the worldwide aviation language...no, not talking about french... in the last few weeks a lot of threads have vanished due to heavy bashin'...:} you are all welcome to post in finnspeak....but think twice before you do...:ok: back to topic: I thought those guys were goin' belly up? |
Belly up?!?
Where did you hear this from? Haven't heard anything like that.

Long live Nordic co-operation!!!
Hi everybody,
About banning, I was banned and still I am, so I had to log in with another name. :yuk: Also few other guys were banned too after posting their opinion to use one of the nordic languages. Finish were used in posting that were directed to Finns, but still everybody provided some short translations in english, which was by the way very co-operative. Then Finns tried to keep it in english, but they were shot down because some other forumers found that english the Finns used, was not good enough for them to understand. :{ Also Finns dared to ask that people writing in Danish would provide translations or everybody would start to use english- that started the language war and since it was just yes-no-yes-no-**** we ceased posting posting here. This is not to start it again, but remind that it would be nice if we use language that we all understand- no priviledges to anyones. After that we can really start to enjoy good fellow-pilot co-operation in North. Tack och förlåt. :} Ugh, I have spoken. about the topic... According to my best knowledge Air Finland is alive and kicking, not going to do any belly-up aerobatics :D They are hiring new first officers constantly due to expansion in operations and also some firsts have left company for seeking greener pastures at flag carriers nest. Also company is seeking cabin crew. Today the Finnish Travel magazine and other weekly magazine voted Air Finland as the best holiday charterer. It was result of mystery shopping test done in near past. This is one ref. I found so far about rosters, terms and conditions so far... http://www.pilotjobsnetwork.com/fact...vp88qxpctmjxsm http://www.pilotjobsnetwork.com/fact...vp88qxpctmjxsm Once again, No hard feelings, but lets not start the b*****y language war again. |
Amen!

How do you apply to Air Finland ?
How do you apply to Air Finland?
To whom and where, my finish is not that good. Thanks in beforehand! |
Do you need to be able to speak Finnish in order to get a job with Air finland?:hmm:
|
I've met some non-english speaking crew with Air Finland so I don't think that they require that. I think the most important thing is that you should have is experience on flying the 757 or at least the type rating.
The application form on the website is only in Finnish but you can make contact by email: info(at)airfinland.fi. |

The application form on the website is only in Finnish but you can make contact by email: info(at)airfinland.fi. They did not require a 757 rating before, and don't believe they require it now. Probably very very difficult to get a job with them unless you speak Finnish. Good luck trying, though. |
