Licence issued in Sweden or UK CAA?

I'll be converting my Canadian ICAO CPL ME-IR rating to JAA soon. As I'm currently living in Sweden I would prefer to just complete the training in Sweden. One thing that I'm worried about is not having the licence issued by the UK CAA- there seems to be such emphasis on having a JAA licenses issued by the UK CAA in other threads. What are the advantages of having the licence issued by the UK CAA rather than the Swedish Authorities? Can I have my license transferred to the UK CAA?

Thanks for any advice

It doesn't matter which JAA country issues your licence. UK or Sweden , both good in Europe.

exams

for a JAA frozen atpl, under certain circumstances the UK allows people to waive the need for the ground school and write the exams on their own, sweden does not. If you are exempt and write here in the UK then you will have to do a UK CPL skills test. Once that is complete I would suggest doing the IR in sweden as it is much cheaper and they are not so anal about radio work as the brits.

I converted my canadian ATPL to the UK ATPL recently and I know some swedish guys that have done the same..

any questions feel free to message me

JAA License

A British license is the better one to have with high standards ,looking at future emoloyment with some major carriers
wouldnt accept your CV unless you hold an CAA-UK License.

Kopeloi is right. A JAA licence is valid in all JAA countries. Regarding "major carriers" not accepting valid JAA-licences, except BA, sounds like BS to me. The reason everybody talks about UK-CAA licences is probably because there is a huge number of UK pilots on PPRuNe.

I recommend Flyguppdraget in Backamo, they have a distance ATPL(A) course. Did my IR there, liked them alot. Flygteoriskolan also have a lot of satisfied students. Go with one of them and you will get high standard theory instruction. Compare the rates with UK while you're at it...

Good luck!
