Sterling wants to expand!

The new owner of Danish low-cost airline Sterling is planning to go for extra mile! The plan is to double the fleet size with in 2 years and start low cost to USA. Here is few articles. Sorry that I was not able to find any in english.

They´ll loose every dime they´ve got.

Way to be optimistic!!!

What do you base your negativity on?

You may be right but I hope you are not. I know I would fly to the States for a cheap penny and I know many with me that would.

I wish them all the luck.

I base my assumption on the judgement that they will be unable to reduce their total costs by more than 20% compared to SAS. By their own admision their revenue will be substantially lower than that. The start-up costs alone will sink this enterprise.

Lower crew and aircraft rent will not in itself be suffiient to compensate for lack of frieght and 30% cheaper tickets. High fuel costs and other fixed expenses will sink this endeavor.

Perhaps it will even endanger the rest of the company. Now where´s the sense in that.

Wishfull thing & desperation.

I think that we should take a look at the new owners of the Sterling. I mean these people are not the first time around the block. They have been previously large shareholders of the Iceland Air and obviously their investment was quite profitable over there. But I agree with Kingfish - the stakes are high!

I know I would fly to the States for a cheap penny and I know many with me that would.
On top of that you would probably also have the pleasure of having to buy the job first.

Enjoy.

Please refresh my memory: what rules govern the allocation of traffic rights between Denmark and the US ?

Techman you are right... to work for Sterling they like to sell you B737-800 type rating for 200.000 Danish crowns first and then they might offer you employment. All though if you got the rating you might by hired with out paying.
When CATANS said " I know I would fly to the States for a cheap penny and I know many with me that would" I think he meant as a passenger.

Thanks for clarifying my post 'cause that is exactly what I meant. I am not planning on buying any type for a job, I would rather keep searching. I did mean that if I could travel to the US in a cheaper way than by going with SAS, I would, I would and I think many more would as well.

I do wish Sterling the best in their endevours.

Have Sterling ever produced profit?

Always telling about growth in pax numbers but no news about revenue

But I, of course wish them Good Luck.

If anyone can make them fly high it would be the Icelanders
(and I am not taking about the horeses)
