Air Finland recruiting!

It seems that airline business is flowering in Finland.
Last sundays Helsingin Sanomat was an ad for pilot/cabin/movment control/and technical people.

bluesafrica 7th Apr 2004 20:20

That is great news. They seem to be also doing it proper way, not like some others through "buddies network".
Great airline with young professionals! Pity that I am too old and tired...

Jobs

Looking for direct entry Captains by any chance?????

JJ

Bengt Engel 8th Apr 2004 20:48

Are they still just looking for finnish speaking people?

or have they changed their policy?

is this the proper way to go? to limit themselfs to this...?

/B.

btw, really nice flying weather in scandi today...:E

bluesafrica 9th Apr 2004 22:16

You sure got a point there. But how many swedish, norwegian or danish companies are ready to hire a pilot who can only speak finnish?
Like they say, do like the Romans do....

Air Finland recruit

Finnish language skills are still preferred, but Finnish nationality is not required. About D/E Captains, I presume that at the moment company is seeking mainly first officers, but who knows, maybe some captains are needed as well.

Well Bengt is it limiting if you aim for direct market and you name for it...as like Air FINLAND. Well there is less than 10 percent of nation who talks swedish as a moteher language but I persume that they can cope with that.
About the series of flights out of sweden is nice to hear that They are so accepted and liked even the crews are mainly finnish (1 swedish nation).

Anyways nice tailwinds for everybody.

brgds Classic but happy

Northern_Driver 25th Apr 2004 04:03

From what I understand, they have only open positions for first officers. They have first officers waiting to be upgraded in the near future-which is fare to them and proper way to go. Nice to see them doing well!!:ok:

Any information about pay and work schedule ?

Holding Short 1st Feb 2005 16:41

What is the current situation? Any hiring happening?

Bengt Engel 2nd Feb 2005 20:43

as this is a rumour network....I've heard they might be looking for summer contract pilots.....

Aviate378 7th Feb 2005 08:55

Current situation is...

Air Finland has hired 10 new first officers since they started advertising campaign mentioned above.

8 happy ones has already completed and 2 have just started their 757 training. It seems that the amount of pilots is now (more or less) balanced with this winter's trafic program but summer is still believed to be open.

Anyway, the company is still very much in growing phase and it is only matter of time when next aircraft will join the fleet. So, it seems that the future looks bright & shiny for those who are aspiring to fly these magnificent Boeing 757 airliners... :)

Aviate378 7th Feb 2005 14:39

... and I almost forgot to tell that Air Finland is treating their pilots fair and proper way as first five of the F/O's on the seniority list have now been trained and promoted as Commanders! Instead of saving money by taking in some direct entry captains the Company is rewarding their own experienced F/O's by promoting them on the left seat.

So, for those guys it took only one year to move on a Commander's seat of the B-757, not bad... not bad at all... :)

JJflyer 7th Feb 2005 21:40

Positions

Upgrading from within is just fine and dandy as long as you have people in the right seat that meet the insurance requirements and have the experience and quality to upgrade. Otherwise hiring short-term contract DE Captains until F/O's meet the above standards or DE Captains for a longer duration is not a bad option either.

JJ

P.S. Not to worry, I am not after your command.

Aviate378 8th Feb 2005 06:46

JJ, I totally agree with you.

I do believe that Air Finland has received a huge amount of pilot applications and it seems that they have selected their people very carefully.

As for a newly eshtablished company, it's always a smart move to hire some F/O's with good amount of high quality experience, so that lack of experienced people will not restrict the growth if (and when) times are getting busy again. And IMHO it's exactly were this whole airline business is (finally) heading to...:ok:

rubberboot 20th Feb 2005 16:23

Any Air Finlanders out there......

Any information on what experience (negativ on the B757 rating) they are looking for, pay, rosters, etc etc......and most of all how's the company?

:ok:

Aviate378 22nd Feb 2005 07:39

All I can say is that Air Finland seems to be an excellent company to be with. Maybe not perfect in every possible way, but which one would?

A 757 rating/experience is not essential, but preferred. No training bond, but one who joins without the rating has to pay a fixed sum on top of the salary for 2 yrs. After that, one receives a nice single bonus and full salary. Starting salary is not so great, but makes life survivable in the Scandinavian harsh climate.

Flying is quite exciting mix of "local" roundtrips around the Mediterranean area plus some long haul trips as an extra bonus. Rosters require some time away from home, so if 8-12 day trips would create a problem this ain't a job for you.

Instead it is THE JOB for everyone who wants to build up his/her career with a very enthustiastic, young and dedicated group of people. Hmmm... to be honest; It's not a job, it rather feels like a very nice lifestyle indeed... :ok:

Aslak 22nd Feb 2005 08:08

WOW!

You must be working for them and maybe in a recruiting department? ;)

Seriously speaking, it seems that company has very motivated young professionals working for them and also running the show.

This is excactly kind of company Finland has been lacking for too long. In many ways...

All the best for the company and good luck for ones applying!

Aviate378 22nd Feb 2005 08:20

Dear colleague Aslak,

Yes, I must admit: I'm working with the company but I'm not connected with the recruiting department any ways. I'm just a line pilot instead.

It just happens to be so that, after spending years with all kinds of companies in a few continents and countries, I do enjoy my life as it is right now... ;)

rubberboot 22nd Feb 2005 17:21

many thanks A378!

it sure seems like a good outfit. application will be on it's way.............fingers crossed!
