Luftfartsskolen in Torp Sandefjord

Good day folks. I started with Luftfartsskolen in January this year and been a bit apprehensive considering the instructors aren't full time like at PILOT. Most of the post i've seen on here are a bit outdated but i must be honest frankly reading most of them and with what's going on currently i was wondering on possibly getting more input from folks who have recently finished with LFS. I know they were partnered with SAA in Sweden but since they now belong to OSM, LFS is trying to venture out on their own. Any information is appreciated, about 23 people are currently in limbo.

Well it's been a few weeks since i wrote up on LFS. They finally, after about 7 inspections were able to pass their ATO inspection though it isn't confirmed. With their 3 planes (1 being a 1972 piper) it's going to be interesting to see how it goes. If you are between 18-33, i advice you on PILOT or OSM Aviation Academy (formerly SAA).

Dear Ols
What is your status at this time, ?
I am not involved in training for the time being , but I am considering it.
I fly in and out of Torp some time and there is some activity with regards to training I see.
In hope you are doing good.
Regards

We started in January of this year They just became an ATO last Friday. 1 twin engine and 2 single engine aircraft. Our class is yet to fly and some other classes are still catching up . If you are 19 to 33 I'd recommend PILOT Academy. We are a bit delayed plus most need to retake their ppl theory again.

Uffda!

Time to invest in a lawyer?
Hope you did not pay them any big money!
I did half a year research before I started, got all the discounts as if I payed all up front. And only payed in 4 installments when I was ready!
In October,,,, 1988.
No internet then. But a lot of amateurs running Flight Schools.
I am hoping to be based in Norway again and would consider doing some GS or Sim.
Have some 19 000 flt and sim hrs , so I could be of some use I suppose,,,,.

Keep us updated , and good luck!

Gave em 199.500 but we didn't know at the time was that they had just split from SAA in Sweden and basically trying to become their own ATO. So yeah basically we are waiting to start flying once the Aug. folks are done so basically looking at around May. Try Bristol Ground School or The Great Circle in the UK (PPL), two of my classmates went to TGC and in 4 days knocked out their PPL. I am going in May because im not good with the Norwegian language. We will see what the next few weeks brings but the other students are airborne so at least thats a positive. This kind of training cant be rushed. There are cheaper options out there as far as GS.

Hey Blu, well i have my first flight Tuesday. I went to the UK to this school called The Great Circle and knocked out my PPL tests. Things seem to be settled and flowing and there is a good flying routine. Basically one elephant bite at a time. Hopefully before or around Aug. i have my PPL and i can start on my ATPL. If you want to try out the ground school in the UK, let me know. 4 days and all your 9 exams are done.

Hi Ols
I am glad to hear You are finally getting airborne.

Nahh , I have worked with the Brits before as a Captain in Glasgow for a year and been based in STN a year.
I am sort of done with that gang, they have some good trainers. And some full of hot air,,,,
Happy with my 737 for now, but would not mind getting back to basic Instruction or some Sim work in the future.
Have fun on Tuesday

Regards

I would say one thing, say away from this school. Few years ago,I signed up for their ATPL's course, it ended up loosing me around 50.000 Norwegian Krone. Incompetent school, the material they provided was written in so poor English, that nobody who spoke English properly could understand it.
The school kept all my money, even though I cancelled and told them the reasons for this within few weeks of starting. They are a joke of an outfit. I still have the old email trail with them, where I could get some more facts out, but at this moment it's suffice to say stay away from this place. Don't let them have you money. Their ATPL course was beyond a joke.

Did the school give any reasons why they couldn't refund your money?

Good to hear.
Now keep the pulse up, and getting the Licence is now part of the selection.
Good luck to all.
Keep the blue side up ( +- say 45 degrees)

It's sad that so many flight schools are getting unprofessional these days.

It seems like Norwegians tends to go to Swedish schools instead, cheaper education but still high quality. A few friends went to Volflight and they say it's a great place and good education with the students as priority one.

Always be very wary of the new pop up posters praising a particular school. In this case the poster actually works for Volflight.

Doing part time , but flying ca 820 hrs 12 month running.
The Boss is short of Captains and the Euro is strong.
Cant complain.

Good to hear. It's tough passing these exams because my Norwegian language is not the best so its more language than material. Basically 400,000Kr. to wait but ive been looking at Sweden with a very keen eye. Only issue is financing because we get it here but not Sweden. It breaks my heart lots of good people with families but i think its gonna be ok.
