You voted no, and still DY says it is only accepting pilots on contracts? Helsinki and now Malaga? Hence your union has no power?

positivefeather,

I tend to agree with you, I also heard it was accepted to protect the terms of those already there, if it wasn't then, as you say what is the point of a union & when/if they will do something about it ?

What union would reveal that kind of strategy in a public forum?
A good one. One who at least would want to appear like a union who cares about anybody but a few selected ones at OSL base...

What makes you think our union is ALLOWING this to happen??
So far there`s not much they can do...... Yet..
Well, you have the right to strike.... you can also form a stronger union under NF...

I would be surprised if the Norwegian pilots are going to strike (or making any other legal action). They are already separated in different groups (OSL pilots, estonian contracts-pilots, PARC-contracts-pilots), and to me it seems difficult for them to have the same goal at all.

Btw - there are rumouers that DY also are looking at other bases, like LPA, and that also those pilots will be employed on contracts. What I heard is that all new pilots in the future will be contract based pilots...(spanish pilots?)

My guess is that this new "philosophy" will squeeze the other scandinavian operators, making them forced to follow sooner or later.
The answer from companies like SAS, Thomas Cook Scandinavia etc, have so far been to "downgrade" FO start salary, but otherwise no other changes so far. The unions in those companies will not accept different pilot groups, with different goals.

And talking about SAS....someone told that they need to let some more pilots leave, short time after they reemployed. Some others here maybe know more about it...? Something to do with the long hauls?

Norwegian is heading for industrial actions big time.

Initial actions are already flagged.

Sad story really.

I have never in my time in aviation heard employees talk more enthusiasticly about their company
incredible success of NAS

And the plot thickens

22 more NGs 100 73Max and 100 320Neo. No more permanent employes? I'm starting a contract agency!

Money to be made!

Indeed, then set up a deal with a TRTO for fresh supply of "professionals." Wait, what´s that you say?
In July 2008, Parc Aviation was acquired by the Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) group adding Parc Aviation's flight crew and technical resourcing services to the group's extensive training portfolio.
F**k, someone beat us to it!

The key to it all is for the EU to change the rules to stop this Ryanair type of employment strategy. This will make conditions (real permanent employment) closer to equal for all EU airlines though with country variations in salary.

Why ? in a word. . . . greed.

Most of Ryanairs profits this last ten years have come, in reality, from buying big bunches of Boeings at half price, selling them at full price to leasing companies, & sticking the money in the bank, airfares have very little to do with it.
I wonder what prognosis Norwegian have made of the future of Europe to think that they can expand beyond Ryanair & charge normal fares thereby making money, or have they also raped Boeing ( & Airbus) as MOL claimed & undoubtedly did, do ?

Jeg så innslaget på TV2. Synes NF gjorde en god figur.
"The race for the bottom".

Gammelt ordtak i flybransjen: "You get paid what you negotiate, not what you deserve".

(Over 30%)

Rishworth Aviation søker kapteiner for Kjosern:

"Job Description
We are looking for B737NG Captains on behalf of Norwegian Air Shuttle.

Term: 3 years with various starts during March and April 2012.

Experience: Must have minimum 1000 PIC hours on B737 with some NG experience and 5000 hours total time.

Qualifications: JAA License with current B737-3/800 type rating and must have flown the type within the last 6 months."
