I shall not join this thread as I'm currently on x-mas vacation, expected back on Jan 3rd at least 10kgs heavier and well overdue for a C-check on my liver.

Looking forward to introducing my Turkish wife to the delights of a full-on Danish x-mas lunch, with plenty of snaps (O.P. Andersson obviously). While she can hold her drink and doesn't generally suffer from hang-overs, I wonder what pickled heering and cupious amounts of snaps will do to her

Yes, I know, evil is my middle name.

Merry X-mas fellow vikings, Floppy's siging off.

Good Lord Mr. FFF, ya got married?

What happened? Been smoking crack, or just a case of temporary insanity Ms. FFF?

Ha-ha, we have all made that mistake a time or two.

Won't hold it against ya the first time.

Smoknjoe,
Welcome to "the Bar"!
Aye, Mr Letterman has speaketh the thruth. Again...

No signs of any bikini-chicks just yet though!!
They'll come around, I'm pretty sure!! ...we'll just have to hang in there!

TD,
FFF actually announced his marriage on the old forum, but you were not around then as I recall it.
Many of us were non-believers of this happening, until presented with facts a while ago.
She must be one special girl!!
Sooo,...that's one single stud less,...but many more to go!!

Aye, that may be so.

Yeah, I bailed out of the old forum when the man wanted dough for full access: If ya don't pay up, ya become a second class citizen.
Not so with the old TowerDog, can't play second fiddle ya know.

Sooo, FFF got married a while ago? That is why he is so quiet these days...?

No time to go bar-hopping in Copenhagen with bikini girls, or write tall flying stories on the boards. Poor sod, he is probably doing dishes or painting the white picket fence.
He shall surely be missed by most.

As for joining the Viking Bar: Aye, easy mates! Pull up a chair, pour a pint of mjød and tell some lies. No political correctness around here: Ya can pick on Swedes, women, rag-heads or whatever, everything flies...

Sounds like home sweet home..

"1. Your definition of an Alchohol problem is: Being out of it.
2. Mothers hide their daughters when you come to town: This of course because they want you all to themselves.

So do you feel at home yet "

Sounds like home sweet home..

Regarding the poor sap who got married, Good luck with that.
Did that twice myself, It ended becauce of AIDS. Army Induced Divorce Syndrome the first time and Aviation Induced Divorece Syndrome the second time.
I hear three's a charm? Anyone?

Anywhoo, Work just called since im on reserve, Im off to Punta Cana i think. Just got hired with a nice small compay and im enjoying flying again.
Spent way too long with Mesa . If youre familliar with them you'll understand.

Take care.
Joe.

Aye, USA 3000...

You dudes are lucky! Yer previous manager of crew schedule was a bitch and hated by all..Last summer she quit and came over to Tradewinds so we got stuck with her.
In the meantime the USA 3000 guys were popping champagne corks and celebrating every day for months.

Aye, so ya have heard the stories?

Sorry
Nah, don't bother me nothing, I left Tradewinds a few months ago for greener pastures and don't regret it.

Can relax now with a low-stress job and even quit smoking and cut back on drinking. (that place drove me nuts, 30 hour duty days lack of concern for crew wellbeing, all for half pay)

Not good, not in the long run anyway, that place needs a union so bad but the troops are running scared: Anybody trying to organize gets fired.

"Aye, so ya have heard the stories?"
Sure have, But Like i said before, I come from mesa . They wrote the book on fuxxing with pilots and bending the rules using intimidation. Mesa managements favorite quote when i argued that something was agains the contract. Grieve it. They knew i would have to comly and MAYBE be made"whole" in 6-18 months. Fuxxers.

"and even quit smoking"
I know i should, Im just not a quitter,,once again,a decade total with mesa. Im just now recovering from the stockholm syndrome/battered spouse condition induced by that place.
Worked with many awsome folks, Just couldnt see myself there long term.

"I left Tradewinds a few months ago for greener pastures and don't regret it."
Good, Happy you're at greener pastures .Where are you now?

"and cut back on drinking." Come now, you just have to keep practicing .

Ended up not flying today. Back on reseve sat morning.

Take care.
Joe.

Beer. It's not just for breakfast anymore .

Where are you now?
At AA..The airline, not the drinking club.
Got MIA base and the B-757/767..Sweet gig, the Boeing twins are like Cadillacs..Quiet, easy to drive, comfortable, etc.
If we only get a new contract next year without going on strike and burning the place down....
"and cut back on drinking." Come now, you just have to keep practicing .
Yeah, I was doing it too much: 1/2 case of beer per day, got a good size beer belly out of it.
Not good as I am into a mid-life crises at the same time: Can't chase them young chicks with a beer belly, they go for the slim look...
once again,a decade total with mesa
What is it with that place? Heard mucho horrendous about Mesa...Why does folks stick around if it is that bad?
These days there is a real pilot shortage blooming and in many ways a seller's market.
5 years ago it was tough with 6000 furloughed pilots walking the streets in unemployment-land and the employers could really screw you over and do it again.
Nowadays they are screaming for pilots offering sign-up bonuses and other goodies.
I kept my CFI alife and being on some mailing list for CFI holders I keep getting job offers in the mail from the big flight schools promising up to $40K in annual compensation plus this plus that....
Back in the old days the young instructors had to beg, lie, cheat and steal to get one hour of flight time. Always hanging aorund airports, sneaking into to garbage to search for a half-eaten sandwich or perhaps some soggy fries.
Aye, times have-a-changed, now a pilot is in the drivers seat and can look himself in the mirror with a smile on his face.

Holy sh!t, 12 hours later and nobody in the bar?

Ya guys on permanent vacation or just shy little girls?

I ain't gone fly solo in this place....

To keep the doors open, we need some clientele...Don't have to be high class, or any class for that matter, just warm bodies in the vacant seat..

No, no, no,.....it's just that you and Smoknjoe went all serious on us and at least I felt a bit "thrown off" by it!!

Also, I had to take a break to plan/execute the twins birthday-party.
Back on top of things now again..... ....I think.
Ohh, almost forgot,.. Christmas is around the corner.
Here we go again, I s'pose?!

X-Mas is for kids

An2,

X-Mas is for kids. Let your twins understand that you do everything for them up until X-Mas. Thereafter it`s daddy-time in the Bar. No interuptions whatsofever. Same goes for wifes and such who wants attention over the next week or so. This time of the year is for daddy to do what he likes and for mamas to attend to the kitchen stuff

I take it for granted that we all hang around here 24/7 as of the 25th.

Not so sure about hanging out at the bar from the 25th onwards.

The 'ol Dog is junior man on reserve in MIA starting the 24st.
The odds of being called for a trip is so close to 100% that I did not even put up a X-mas tree.
My ass will be off on some junior trip that some asshole dropped in Open Time, or called in sick to get out off.
You boys mark my words and see the result in 36 hours from now when I am again obliged to answer my telephone.

Of course I could have the good fortune of getting a nice 4 day trip to Buenos Aires with a crew of lusty flight attendandts. Good food and drink down there as well.

Perhaps the sun will shine on me despite being THE junior man.

Stay tuned....

Well, as I thought:

Crew schedule desperate for warm bodies, but at least they gave me a choice of trips: Picked a flight to Montevideo with a 34 hour lay-over. Gives me plenty of time to sample the local wildlife and firewater.

Stay tuned.

This dude will set sail for eastern Europe on the 25th. TD, it looks like you`re going to have more of a blast in Montevideo, but I`m not going to bet on it. It can be pretty hot in the eastern parts of the European mainland.

To all ex-cockpitforumers (you too Flip Flop, if you better half let you look in here): Have some peaceful days
