I applied Air Baltic few weeks ago, same time as a couple of friends. We all have similar TT, non type rated and around 280 hours TT, but my friends they both got a rejection, while yesterday I got an email to forward a bunch of documents by email.

Anybody know if the email requesting the documents is just a standard, or is it a positive sign?

Post 2nd Stage

The 2nd stage was a 2.5hrs interview, face to face with a psychologist doc. Many questions about you,and some psychometric tests(with numbers,face/figures and name recognition),most similar to the psychological test you probably have sustained when you got you medical Class 1 for the first time.

Hope it helps.

Post BoeingDreamer

BoeingDreamer, it's a standard thing. My friend sent the documents and after he was sent to the holding pool directly to maybe be invited at a later stage. He has about 300 hours more than me, we went to same school and had same job but in different places.

Was just curios why 2 of my friends was rejected, while we had the approx. exact same flying experience. Anyway just have to wait and see I guess.

Hey guys.

Curious as to the DHC-8, do you have to pay for your own TR or line training? Is there a bond? I have a FAA SIC TR on the DHC-8 and 800 hours on type, not sure how they would take to that.

I have read about the 9,000euro, and 3 year bond, I would be curious if it would apply to my case. The TR I have has a SIC limitation on it, and is not a full type rating by European standards, not sure how that works.. Maybe somebody here knows.

Following the Southwest Airlines lap joint failure airBaltic are going to be mightily p1ssed off.

From a worldwide fleet of several thousand, there is a batch of only 579 aircraft requiring inspection, and if other authorities follow the FAA lead, repeat inspections, of effectively the whole length of the passenger cabin.

Don't know how many of airB's airframes are above the 30.000 cycle trigger point, I suspect a fair few, but of the 16 aircraft in the current fleet,10 are in the batch affected.
Unlucky throw of the dice for them having such a high percentage manufactured in the "dodgy years" between 93 & 2000.

Edited to say, Flight International recently published a list of the companies with affected airframes.Of 579 aircraft, only 175 have enough cycles to require inspection. Norwegian & SAS were on the list, airBaltic not, so I was wrong and their aircraft, although in the numerical list, must be lower cycle than I gave them "credit" for.

It seems like AB is now gathering a lot of rated 737 pilots in a Standby pool after passed assessment. They need many pilots in the pool because there will not be a high percentage accepting a 737 contract when the 21.000€ (70€ x 300 hrs) line training fee deal is offered to them.
Any pilots in the AB standby pool with more info?

A lot of the B737 pilots that are from Scandinavian countries left the company because they got the option to start working for Norwegian, since they are not bonded or anything it's pretty obvious that they take the job and leave so they can be at home or much closer. That is why they are adding a bond which is in some cases 2 years others 3 if my memory doesn't fail and they need people and they don't want people to leave after taking a rating and some hours in type. When it comes to paying 70€ X 300hrs for line training that is something i personally didn't hear.. yet.

So people have spent ages in a pool only to be offered a p2f scheme? Oh man, that sucks. I feel for those guys. Honestly, I would rather eat **** for a living than pay to fly for that outfit. But that could just be me though.

We exchanged PM's and you asked about A320 crew requirements.

airBaltic have no A320's, and have announced no orders for them.

Given the time scale between ordering/receiving a new type. . . then training their Examiners/Training Capts/Engineers , never mind arranging finance for the purchase/lease of the new type, I somehow doubt that your missed call indicates any degree of urgency.

Maybe they are just making a courtesy call to say they misread your C.V and didn't notice it said A320 NOT B737 so , Thanks, but No Thanks

Sorry, but if you are rated and current on the Scarebus I think your energies would be best directed elsewhere

Oh, BTW, best perhaps to bear in mind they are in Latvia, not Lithuania

Sorry for the lapsus, Latvia is the right country. Regarding our mails Just to say that I cannot understand why they aré calling people with A320 Type, a cortesy call as you said Just for telling you that your aré not right , Could be but I don't think so honestly. In fact my Type rating collegue sent his cv and also Air Baltic ask for his paperworks so ... There must be something I'm afraid.

Anyway I'll give them a call on monday and Let see what happen.

Cheers

Biggles77, sorry for late answer, i have been busy and also getting quite some PM's. Before i spend time writing about the assessment again, have you read my post on page 27 of the thread?? After reading it if there is anything you need to clarify let me know. The process hasn't changed that much on the 1st stage. And yes they keep inviting people, many like my self been in a holding pool 6months, I re-applied again this year (9 months after) and got invited again, passed in February 23rd 1st stage (they only keep my results 6 months) and did 2nd stage in March. They response what that some else got the position and that i'm welcome to apply for future vacancies.. I don't know what they want really..

Later!
