Biggles in the Millenium (SP? - its late!) Hotel near the airport- check out the great aviation decor - Have a drink then leave for the Irish Village.
Beware unsavory women who sometimes hang out in Biggles.

Waxy O'Connors, Scarletts, Rock Bottom, Jimmy Dix to name a few watering holes. For those not of a nervous disposition there is always The Cyclone!

Cyclone is an excellent multi-cultural experience, Oh, and they serve beer too!

I only go there to improve my Russian, honest!

What happened to the ZINC @ Crown Plaza Hotel? Is it being refurbished or removed completely?

Try the "Towers Rotana" second floor restaurant for starters. All you can eat/drink buffet for 120 dirhams, then adjourn downstairs to Longs bar.

Very reasonable!

The Dhow & Anchor in the Jumeirah Beach Hotel - in cooler months even better you can sit outside among the palm trees with a great view of Burj al Arab - happy hour between 1800 / 1900 HRS meals at UK pub prices (around 10.00 each)

Double Decker Bar in Morooj Rotana (behind Dusit Dubai) excellent or of course Aussie Legends in Rydges Plaza Hotel (Satwa) is excellent too with great food
