Looking for a nice condition DHC 1 Chipmunk
Does anyone know of one for sale at the moment in this network, preferably in RAF/Royal Navy livery. Have looked at the internet and one is unsuitable and the other I think I may have missed out on. Feel slightly sheepish making this request, as it's hardly adding much value to the community - but give me time !

Interesting. The one parked in the field is the one for sale at AT Aviation. Wonder what damage was done in the outlanding, engine shock loaded etc. As offered by AT the aircraft is low hours but high priced. I will be taking a close look at it. , paricularly with reference to any repairs. IF, IF, I were to buy it, it would be based at White Waltham , and I would offer shares in it. Being ex CFS I would want it operated to RAF standards. |
Thankyou all very much for taking the time to answer, I love this forum, almost any aviation query one might have is answered in very thoughtful way. Particularly helpful for a novice such as myself. The crashed plane, unfortunately is not for me, so any additional suggestions would be most welcome. Looking forward to the day I can say MFFHHB !

I am not sure if its direct drive on a Gipsy, or geared, so not sure about the shock loading on them.

Gipsy Major is direct drive. Engine overhaul costs are high, as the 1920s technology needs real engine fitters and many man-hours.
