RAF Flying suit

For a course I've got on I need to find an RAF flying suit in size 3.
It seems near impossible to get either Mk16B or Mk16A in size 3, I've found a Mk17A in the correct size though.

Can anyone tell me the difference between a Mk16 and a Mk17?

The Mk.17 is designed to be worn over internal type immersion suits or NBC gear, it's also good for gym queens/truckies as it has a bit of 'extra room' compared to the 16s. :E

RAF Flying suit

If a flying suit is 'required' for your course shouldn't it be provided by the training provider. If, however, you just want to look the part why not try a stall at an airshow.

You could always go to the source: Survitec Group » Coverall » Beaufort - MK16 Aircrew Coverall

If the requirement is for attendance at a 'Last Man Standing' course, then don't forget flaps over your bootlaces and an aircrew sock rolled up and slipped into your underpants.

Beware!

If you get a suit with thigh pockets, don't get suckered into the Friday afternoon beer call in a Mess `somewhere in North Wales`...the `mates` there will take great delight in ripping the pockets off in a great and jolly jape!

Just find the biggest watch you can, the brasher the better, and wear that, they will naturally assume that you are a pilot and not look at ones attire. :E

Give the guys at Homepage - Key Survival Equipment a shout, they may be able to source you something or get one made for you. :ok:

Jo,
I have a Mk 14 size 5 spare and free to a good home. The Mk 14 was designed for use under an external G-suit so is quite tight fitting and doesn't have any thigh or leg pockets.
PM me with your contact details if this of any use
