May 10th, 1966, Lt Greg Schwalbert of VF-14 launched off a carrier at sea with his aircraft weighing in at over 34,000 lbs in high winds. Immediately after launching in winds of 33 kts over the deck, the pilot became frighteningly and most painfully aware that his wings were still in the folded position. Hello,
Do any of these manuals contain information regarding the AWG-11 or 12 principles of operation? I'm interested mostly in the AWG-10 of the USN F-4J, but information is dry. British Phantoms are the next best thing, I figured.... Thanks, Noah |
Just browsed this thread during a few spare minutes, nice photos etc.
Was tasked to fly a MOD photographer a Mr Stephens, ( in a Canberra) November ,69, to get some photos of 43 sqn F4 s with the Forth Bridge as background. I think this one was one we got ! Apologies if I missed it in the thread. This is the only F4 I got to fly and will fly again in the spring ! http://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune.o...43b808797.jpeg http://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune.o...e6fd79d26.jpeg |
Great work by the guys at the Collings Foundation getting their F-4D 65-0749 / N749CF fit for approval to fly again!
It is painted as FP / 66-7680 - one of Col Robin Olds aircraft when he was CC 8th TFW during Op Bolo. Pilot Harry "D-Day" Daye has 2,500 hours in the F-4 and is a USAF Warfare Center Weapons School graduate. "We decide when the last Phantom Phlies!" |

Not even sure whether CF are even financially supporting this return to flight. If they are, they are keeping fairly quiet about it....likely for obvious reasons. |
Another video - love the sound of the A/M32A-60B gas turbine powered combined generator & air start cart - don't stand next to the red line in case there is a turbine failure while spinning at 42,000 rpm and the J79 whine of course
