Spain plans to take delivery of six additional A400M transport aircraft over the next four years, citing the planes' excellent performance with the Spanish Air Force in the last few years. Spain had initially commissioned Airbus for the delivery of 27 A400M in 2001 but cut this down to 14 after budget cuts in 2013. The remaining 13 aircraft were planned to be sold on the open market, but no buyer has emerged for them so far. The Spanish Ministry of Defence now wants to take delivery of six of those 13 planes to bring the country's fleet to 20 aircraft, leaving only 7 airframes to potentially be sold on the open market. Spain will receive another six A400Ms in the next four years, increasing its fleet to 20 aircraft |
Airbus:
We just handed over the keys of the 53rd German #A400M to the German Air Force! And we are not stopping here - we are continuing to unleash the potential of this incredible aircraft together with the operating air forces: . ●Payload boost: Increasing the maximum payload from 37 to 40 tonnes ●A400M Mothership: Carrying and deploying up to 50 mid-size drones or up to 12 cruise missiles of the size of a Taurus ●Satellite-based landing system: Allowing A400M crews to focus even better on their missions ●Roll-on/roll-off Fire Fighter Kit: Transforming the A400M into a fire fighting aircraft able to deploy 20 tonnes of water or retardant . The A400M saga continues. Stay tuned! |

12 years of operation, nothing else on the market - I suspect other operators will be making the same choice. |
