Size of Armed Forces

Ladies and Gents

Am doing an academic research project - looking for quantitative evidence on reduction in size of armed forces over last 10 or more years. Looking for specific data - reduction in number of personnel, fast-jet squadrons (there is some logic behind the fast jet bit!), fighting ships, infantry battalions etc. Anybody any thoughts on sources?

I would have thought a Google of "Options for Change" would begin to show where the rot set in. It was all the swords into ploughshares bollocks that followed on from WARPAC collapsing. F4 Squadrons prematurely disbanded; bomber Tornado run-down; Maritime Bucc role abandoned - bean counters in the ascendant...............
