Married to the RN?

Hi, I'd to hear any thoughts from anyone who is/was married or in a long-term relationship where both of you were in the RN.
I am currently undertaking flying training (RW) and my wife is a qualified nurse. She has had no joy getting a job in the NHS since qualifying, partly due to our movement round the country and partly due to the terrible manpower so called planning in the NHS.
Wife is thinking of joining the RN (as a rating). RoS is about 4.5yrs total, better pay, training and job than NHS so great from that point of view.
Mainly we are worried about separation issues, but are there any potential Officer/Rating clashes may be a problem.
Especially how easy is it for a rating to get a draft where they want? (i.e at Culdrose/Yeovs). Obviously there is a liability to serve anywhere and a lot of nurses are deployed at the moment.
Thanks in advance

the simple fact is:

You - Naval Aviator - Naval airbases = 2

Therefore you will be based at Culdrose or Yeovilton

Mrs - Naval Nurse - Naval nurse bases = Lots and Lots. POrtsmouth, Plymouth, Faslane, Birmingham, Culdrose, Yeovilton, Dartmouth, Lympstone etc etc etc

Chances that Naval Aviator and Naval Nurse are stationed at the same base = Slim

Hi Lofty,
I'm not qualified to answer your question (no wife/longterm girlfriend in RN) but knew a few oppos who had nursing other halves working in the private sector - that might suit your wife. Are you down at Culdrose/Yeovilton yet? spect you are since you've been a forum member for some 18 months or so (or is the holding situation getting worse? I must stop wandering off the point). A 5 sec Google search for private sector nursing cornwall picked up this result
.
Back in your box now Z3. Yes nurse, can I have another vigorous bedbath please, pretty please, just down there in my private sector, no no please nurse not the straight jacket again please.:{:\

I'd expect the most likely posting your wife will get will be to an MDHU - more nurse's jobs there than in the relatively small sick bay type units you'll find in the establishments/NAS. MDHUs are at Peterborough, Aldershot, Portsmouth and Plymouth, for starters, and there is the Centre for Defence Medicine in Brum.
