Board RVs.

I know I'm new here, and not up to speed on things or the board mindset, but are there ever any board get togethers? Before anyone says '.. yup, most days at work you has been', I meant (of course) social gatherings specifically aimed at board members.

If I might, I would recommend the splendid Olive Branch in Clipsham as a suitable RV.. recently voted by Michelin as the Best Pub in the UK. It also means I can walk home.

There have been "heads-ups" for specific reunions such as Phantoms and Jag Mates but no bashes specifically for the Mil forum that I recall. PerSec and Nosy Plod being the reasons, for Serving members, I'd guess.

A few current Mil guys have quietly (?!) attended some of the annual Pprune Christmas bashes.

WTF is Clipsham BTW?:) If a Michelin starred Pub, does that mean it does solids?:suspect:

I'm sure a good opsec plan would be a great task for a junior officer, as would formulating stringent countersurveillance measures. :ok:

Thanks Koli, that looks good. I've just organised a board bash and they can be an absolute nightmare.

But won't all the talk be of serenely cruising Jumbo Jets and in the latest advances in in-flight entertainment? Little scope for gratuitious leering, traditional military brawling and settling old scores I would have thought. :E

"...recently voted by Michelin as the Best Pub in the UK..."

Can't imagine that Mr Michelin is looking for the same thing in a boozer as I am.

ROTFL :)

Its a party. For all Ppruners - PPL, CPL, ATPL, CC, spotters, Mil etc etc. everyone is equally welcome.

Cheers Koli, I hope it goes well for you all.

It sounds far too nice for me. To get that Naafi ambience, they'd need to allow you to burn holes in the carpet, curtains and all soft furnishings.. grope all females and be sick quite close to the urinals. They'd have to install roof mounted fans and they'd have to train the staff to sneer at you and of course, they'd have to get flat beer in too. I don't think they'd want to do that. :{

PS: You'd also have to only invite ugly women.

talk_shy_tall_knight 21st September 2007 13:21

Whereas, the Olive Branch in Clipsham has Roast Spuds on the bar and strippers every Sunday:hmm:

Al R 21st September 2007 13:28

Good point. ;)

(Spuds have to have marmite on them mind)
