Question about superhornet

i know this sounds like an obscure question but its something bugging me since the airshow at avalon.

The superhornet has what looks like a see through mesh grill on the nose gear door that the older hornet does not have.

Does anybody know what it is?

The gun and avionics cooling vents are fwd & Stbd of the nose gear door on the regular bug. My guess would be they made them bigger on the super bug :hmm:
