Andrew Brooks where is the Buccaneer CD?
Andrew
On your website you are still talking about bringing out your DVD of Buccaneer films/photos. You have been thinking about releasing it for many years now and whilst I know that you are a perfectionist, isn't it time to release the stuff you have got? Have left messages on your site but there has been no answer. I for one would buy your disc now. Cheers Pete |
He's been busy. Didn't you see him on Channel 4's Britain's Cold War Super Weapons this evening?
|
That was a different Andrew Brookes!
|
I stand corrected. Last night's one has written a few books on the Vulcan and others. Also has a very dry sense of humour and writes good stage reviews.
|
As well as being a PPRuNer, Andy was my first Vulcan captain when I went through 230 OCU in 1977. The other captain I could have been crewed with was a humourless little $hit of a Sqn Ldr intent upon getting promoted at the first opportunity... I flew with him once and he criticised the brand new Plt Off Nav Radar for talking him down on an internal aids (non-precision) approach "In the red/pinks, rather than the red/whites" of the VASIs! A tw@t of the first order he was - whereas flying with Andy was a good deal more fun!
|
And.... did the other guy get promoted Beags? Silly question, really.
|
Sadly he did, the little $hit. Currently lurks in Main Building.....

Buccaneer CD
Dear Syncro
I do apologise, unfortunately, I do try to be a perfectionist and after those glory days of the Banana Jet, the idea of a CD with loads of piccies was a sound one (and still is). However, the one thing that I wanted apart from many many photographs, were countless stories and tales of Buccaneering etc. Those bar room memories that you hear only when the correct conditions apply (Aircrew, beer and a few songs haha) I was promised these type of unforgettable snippets by many sources, however, unfortunately, they have never really materialised! Hence no CD. I dont feel a CD with just Buccaneer photographs on them is enough to warrant a project like that. So... If any of you reading this would like to contribute a tale or 5, PLEASE get in touch and allow other to recall the majesty of the awesome Banana Jet! As a taster, the LAST 208 (Buccaneer) joanna, to go up! http://www.avcollect.com/OM_09.jpg Snaps |
Oh that last picture.....
Oh how I miss the "High Spirits" you Officers got up to as compared to the vandalism and criminal damage that the other ranks would have been jailed for. Oh don't you just love the upper class (or should I say those who think they are!) ;) |
You will not be needing any chips with that fish sir, I see you have brought your own.
|
Art Field,
I know what you mean, but dopeonarope DOES have a point, having been guilty of partaking in the demise of a good few joannas in my time I am now, was not then, aware that if it had been tried outside the NAAFI by JRs on a Friday night the RAF plods would have arrested those reponsible, thrown them in clink and charged them with something heinous. HOWEVER, that is the treatment of the JRs which is wrong, not the burning of those nasty plinking little things, how I hate them....................................... Hope you get the Buc tales you seek Snapshot, I was down the road from Laarbruch at the dawn of the RAFG Bucs, they do have a number of tales to tell. |
Dopeonarope,
Glad I didnt add some of the others I have then haha! I truly understand your comments however, in defence of this particular final song from the ivory clad wooden wonder box. It WAS the LAST EVER Buccaneer Sqn Farewell weekend and considering the fine 34 years of service from the venerable Bananajet, I would think if 'Joanna's could talk, this one would gladly give her final tunes to such a worthy cause!! I personally contributed to the painting of this particular model and can confirm it was paid for from personal funds! With all the smelly running stuff going on in the world these days why not? Its moments like that that pull a Sqn or unit together! If and when the time comes to act, you can be sure it shall all come together! There is nothing wrong with tradition, in fact I feel our traditions are being taken from us! A man without spirit in his belly (and I dont mean whisky) is no man at all, as he is not alive Life is short and as one ex Bucc mate once said to me, "drink heavily and be happy" here is another just for old times sake! http://www.avcollect.com/XV352_tain.jpg Faster, Lower, Longer :ok: snaps |
So no pictures of the mess cannon fired by the armourers into the BBQ on Pulsator then. Top p1ss up.
Regards Retard |
pr00ne, dopeonarope is fully entitled to express his opinion, I felt, however, that the tone of his entry should not go without comment.
|
I was hoping for more lashbacks on my comments! Us and them and all that!;)
I miss the ways in which Squadrons work, and any Crewmen on 72 Sqn remember the Boot prints on the mess ceiling the night before the 25/30 Anniversary of the Mighty Wessex (RIP Workhorse of NI & SH!) Miss exchange drinks with Os and the Retirement Home as well. Don't change traditions to be politically correct. We become people that try to forget why we are the way we are if we do that. Love to see more pics especially Mess Canons! God they were fun:ouch: Great pic of the Bucc LL what a jet she was. Hoist to crew Winching over and OUT!!!!!! |
