RAF Training Manuals

I am thinking of joing the RAF and wondered would it be a good idea to buy a set of the books? I thought it might help to read around them before applying. Where is the best place to get them from?

Thanks for your replies.

Damn I typed a nice long reply, clicked submit and got a server busy message :(

As someone who's read quite a few of these posts now it would seem that your best move would be to read more about what the MOD, RAF and NATO do than exactly how they do it. Try reading the MOD web site especially the news section, read the RAF web site, learn where they are, why they're there, what aircraft they have, what the aircraft do, read the NATO web site especially the bits about just what they do this day and age, the news bits, why Eastern European countries are being allowed to join and then global news in general, how has the world changed since the fall of the Berlin Wall, what new challenges are there now etc?

Learn speed, distance and time maths inside out, practice route planning - getting from A to B but with travel constraints etc.

Tyro,

Both of the above replies are gen,you really should concentrate on passing OASC first. However if you want to learn to fly first and believe me,it helps, then Transair pilot shop sell a set of AP 3456 manuals (parts 1-9) for about £300, better than the CAA stuff but still about 5 hrs flying time, do you not know any aircrew who could phot them for you?

Good Luck.
