RAVENs at Lakenheath

This lunchtime one caught the Raven aggressor (former RoKAF) BAE Hawk T1 inbound to Lakenheath so here are my photos

They stopped over in Prestwick last night and rumor mill says out of todays four ship 2 may go onwardsto Aviano.

cheers

Are they definitely T1s? Looks a different nose profile to me.

I’d love to know what both BAE and RR are thinking 🤔 at least one (grey) has been modified with an AESA radar.

From the RAVN website:

Hawk Mk 67 with:The Hawk Mk 67 was unique to Republic of Korea Air Force - fitted with the extended nose of the Hawk 100 - who ordered 20 with the last delivered in November 1993.

60 series export Hawk with a longer nose - neither t1 nor T2, but something inbetween. All had original UK test serials in the range ZH593 to ZH615

I remembered you having doubts about the effectiveness of the Elbit EL/M-2052 in the Mk.67s. Given its record of fitting to Tejases and Jags I would possibly add HAL into the RR - BAES mix although the Advanced Hawk seems to have died a death with its proposed HLFT-42 now touted as the replacement for the Hawk Mk.132. The sole Advanced Hawk prototype is to be used as a testbed for the '42.

Mk67s, first of the long noses with nose wheel steering.

More Lakenhetah activity

Since the second week of January this year, the Ravn Hawk Mk63 have been going up so here are my photos

Though with the departure of the TopAces A-4N Scooter and pair of Alpha Jets on Monday back to Nordholz, just leaves the Ravn in Sunny Breckland, which is a shame as was looking forward to seeing the A-4N again.

I also heard on the rumour mill from the enthusiasts at the fence, that another four ship will be coming over from the other side of the pond to here to replace these four while they undego deep / heavy maintenance. Then again the same rumours when they arrived end of last year, also said that out for the four ship, two would be detached to Aviano but that has not happened.

Cheers

There's an interesting item in the latest Air Forces Monthly about these, and other aggressors. Nice pictures too!

Disappointed to find this thread isn't about EF-111s at Lakenheath.

It was a joke about the Raven name for the EF-111 rather than the location of the base.

cheers

Spotters never joke. They take themselves too seriously for that.
