Migs and SU fighters for Sale…

Moral obsolescence technically means the product is in a usable condition but outdated for the purpose.

Soviet fighter jets put up for sale in Kazakhstan .

More than a hundred Soviet-made fighters and bombers, allegedly unserviceable, and aircraft engines have been put up for sale in Kazakhstan.

117 aircraft are put up for sale under "liquidation conditions". These are mainly MiG-31, MiG-27, MiG-29 and Su-24 produced in the 1970s and 1980s.

In the published reports, it is noted that "the evaluated objects are in an unusable condition due to moral obsolescence, their modernization is economically impractical"

Great marketing! "Buy this obsolete and unusable stuff".
However, at leat they're being honest ... Putin's mates would have sold them as "Good to go, just need some cosmetic work."

Don’t think I’ve heard the term ‘moral obsolescence’ used before. Very neat.

Nothing worse than being shot at by the morally obsolete! I wonder if it leads to an old fashioned demise?

If they are morally obsolete, how many Su-35's are being offered?

If you bother reading the link they are to be chopped on site? (Liquidated) and are unsuitable for spares recovery.

The documents make it clear that these “assets must be liquidated by means of disposal at the balance holder’s site.” Furthermore, it is stated that, “Given the technical condition and uniqueness of the evaluated assets, their use for other purposes, including as a source of spare parts, is not feasible.”

So is what they are selling simply a source of scrap metal and other materials with an obligation on the buyer to chop them up at source? The language used in the article is a bit obtuse in my opinion.

They have to be “liquidated” at their current storage airfields - define that as translated - dismantled and taken away in containers?

Even I& the6 can5 be made airworthy there’s a market in museums and as movie props etc. Average condition…
