RAF Laarbruch 1956

Apologies if posted before, this just popped up on my YouTube viewing
No sound, but absolutely delightful.
Is that Paddy Bandon at the start?

I don't think RAF Laarbruch was two years on from building completion in 1956. But an excellent gem, another snapshot of they way things were and much can be derived of the mood and character of the people. One tends to look at the dim and distant past through rose tinted specs, but footage like this acts as a counter to the counter-argument that life was really terrible and primitive.

Indeed FB, Canberras and Hunters were cutting edge tech back then.
I've owned a couple of Jaguars of that vintage and they seem totally archaic compared to the jet aircraft of that time.

Wow! you can see everything - without all the trees in the way! Everything looked so fresh and clear - I remember all the times I've sat on that mound beside the pool!I also loved seeing 1 Hangar from the North side (16 or 3 Sqn's site)...

And so many jets all in a close row - before FOD became a thing!

An aircraft spotter's dream, and it pre-dates the splendid official "RAF in the ......." series.
Wonderful, thanks for the link.
