Sustainable Aviation Fuel?
Has anyone heard anything more about the carbon munching jet fuel which was brought to public attention last year?

Google Professor Tony Marmont - he's been doing the "making fuel out of fresh air" thing for quite some time.

There is a potentially greener e-fuel manufactured by the combination of green hydrogen with captured atmospheric carbon dioxide. This is a genuine low carbon solution but I wonder if a jet engine could be developed to run off the product, the second link hints at it. A pilot project run by Porsche and Siemens is running in Chile using renewable energy.

Arrghh, the ol' crusties are out in force!
Check your terminology - SAF relates to the use of existing feedstocks (domestic waste etc) to produce so-called drop-in fuels for aviation. e-fuels (or whatever - there are many terms in use) relate to technologies to convert atmospheric CO2 in hydrocarbons using renewable energy, a much longer term and way trickier prospect. There's been loads of articles about the former in Flight in you're interested. |
