Hawk T2 Engine problems delay FJT
Can anyone shed any light on what is happening with Fast Jet Training at RAF Valley.
I am led to understand that the Hawk T2 is suffering from an engine problem and Fast Jet Courses may be delayed by over a year? Impact on OCU Courses? This model of the engine is apparently used in other models of the Hawk with Overseas customers and the problem has been know for some while? Any comments from those closer to the coal front or is this yet another MFTS "cover up job"? |
Apparently spares and now engine problems with T2.
Difficulty getting enough serviceable aircraft for the daily flying programme. |
I understand that its a Rolls Royce issue, however, they are blaming a sub-contractor.
In the mean time, once again, the student pilots are the ones to loose out. Some of this bunch that are grounded went through IOT 4 years ago and have still not started their Fast Jet Training!! |
Well they got 4 airworthy for today's flypast!

If you want titanium for engine spare parts then only 1 of the top 5 are likely to supply the West right now. Here they are in order of highest production:
1. China 55% 2. Japan 25% 3. Russia 16% 4. Kazakhstan 7% 5. Ukraine 3% So go figure where everyone in the West is going right now for titanium for material engine blades, vanes, bearings, etc… |
