EGVW - icao code for an RAF Station?
Looking at my logbook I have an entry for EGVW. There is no current ICAO code EGVW...was this an old RAF airfield? Or did I misprint the code....

Pretty sure it was RAE Bedford - try sending a PM to Dunregulatin - he was there as an ATCO in the 80s.

Yes...that's it. Thank you....all my googling failed to find it.

Yes it was RAE Bedford; there was another Bedford airfield just to the east which was (I thinK) EGSB.
Thurleigh was also allocated to EGSV , but only for a short time prior to its closure; there was a plan to use it as an ovenigtht air freight operation but when they realised it would entail H24 operatrion, it moved to East Midlands. |
Googling it took less than 30 seconds. http://www.world-airport-codes.com/u...ord-65123.html I entered I"CAO code EGVW" and up it popped. OK, us smartas*es get their own coats.
