RAF Coltishall Heritage Centre
Yesterday saw the official opening of the RAF Coltishall Heritage Centre which featured a fly past by a hurricane and Spitfire of the BBMF. Both were piloted by ex Colt Jag Mates, Gp Cpt Matt Peterson and Sqn Ldr Mark (Disco) Discombe, the Centre will now be open every Thursday and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00 to the end of October.

I’d be careful if you owe that chap that ran the NAAFI wagon anything, chances are he will be hanging about ready to catch you, ;) He clobbered one of our detachment who’d left over 2 years previous :E

Can you just rock up? Or do you have to book? Where is it on camp? And do you have to sign in on the gate, as driving past in recent times I've noticed the barrier is down a lot.

No booking required just turn up at the quoted times, it's located in the former Guardroom so outside the barrier.

I'm a bit confused here. There is also a Coltishall room at the radar museum at Neatishead, run by the Spirit of Coltishall association.
So are these two separate displays then? |

Yes. The Coltishall Memorial Rooms are under the umbrella of the Air Defence Radar Musem and was set up as a bolt on post Colt closure. The Spirit of Coltishall Association run that. However another group set up the RAF Coltishall Heritage Trust to set a heritage centre on the old base. There is politics old boy, quite a bit. Not like the Bluebird K 7 saga mind. I enjoy both for what they are.
