Wow, 15,000 total horsepower or 7,500HP per side- quite a leap from the original which flew with 2,200HP per engine!

Fingers crossed the gearboxes and driveshafts can take that extra power!

What a pity I'm not allowed to post my photo of a broken Chinook engine mounting. It seems I must carry on posting garbage until I get past the 10 posts barrier or whatever it is. A rum do indeed.

I once had a high performance car that was tuned until it had ~60% more BHP than it had leaving the factory, everything went fine until I was accelerating in second gear one day and there was a horrendous banging like a machine gun firing underneath the car. The torque had snapped the gearbox mount and it was thrashing against the floor pan.

If you read the blurb it says it’s up rated as part of the upgrade coming out, makes sense, get everything ready to allow a “simple” upgrade.
Though not part of the Block 2 upgrade that is geared at reinstating lift capacity that has been lost over recent years as more mission equipment has been installed on to the helicopter, the improved Block 2 drivetrain combined with the T408 engine could be an alternate means of achieving the same effect. |
