Which 20 Sqn scheme would that be? The 1 Sqn Suez one? Or the rather odd 151 Sqn one?

The repaint is going to take thousands of those tiny tins of paint...

Nutloose, ref XF 509 - maybe it’s a trial paint scheme if First Minister Nicola gets her way with Independence and we want a Scottish Air Force?

Why not repaint it in grey raw plastic color including odd stains from gluing it?
Hunter scale model kit

My Airfix Hunter, the very first kit I built, nearly 60 years ago,was in black plastic.

Odd stains? Oi, those are my dabs, mate!

NutLoose 30th Mar 2021 11:42

If you want a kit the best is the Revell one in my eyes at 1/32 scale, big enough for aged eyes and fingers and still available at affordable prices online.

Ah yes, I remember that! It came in a poly bag and had either RAF or Swiss transfers. But before that came out (which must have been around 1960?), there was rather a poor Frog model which came in silver grey plastic. My late father made one for my brother, but our Hunter-flying family friend 'Farmer' Steele said it wasn't very accurate as it didn't have the saw tooth leading edge. As an A1 QFI, he could explain aerodynamics in terms which I understood as an 8 year old!

My first jet kit. I always assumed it was in black as they hoped you would buy another 21 to have standing by it. :)

Suely the dog-tooth leading edge first appeared on the FMk6?

The original Frog Hunter was an FMk1!

And the argument as to whether Humbrol no.30 or no.163 is the best match for B.S. 381C-241 RAF Dark Green, and whether enamel or acrylic is the best option, will drag on for months before a drop gets anywhere near a brush.

A mate of mine used to use a hairy stick and those little pots to touch up the paint on a real Spit.
