French military jets cut off village's power supply by flying low

Or should this be in the 'low flying' thread....;) |
What’s the French for “It will buff out”? Ah, Ça va polir.
Lucky pilot (for now), less lucky for the village. |
Stands back in admiration. I only knocked out a farm.

I know someone who did this in Norway...with a helicopter...while chasing a dog down a street...he's still known as Sparky. The ex-RN pilot that is, not the dog.

A VA ANG Thud took down a cable TV antenna on Super Bowl Sunday, all of eastern NC missed the game on TV that year. Managed to land, IIRC.

You don't necessarily have to fly low to cut power lines - a long time ago a PR Canberra cut a line somewhere in the Apennines that was about 500ft AGL.

When I turned up to my Italian exchange tour, I was told that a few months earlier one of the crews had been flying on a standard LL route along one of the northern valleys in Sicily. Due to the strong winds that was causing very rough turbulence they decided to climb out of low level. As they climbed though 700ft AGL the fin took out a cable that the electricity company had strung across the valley without telling anybody.......

I see that the aircraft landed at Orange. Must have needed some juice. Perhaps he should have kept his eyes peeled 🙂

I find it rather remarkable that these incidents (wasn’t the first time, and thankfully it wasn’t a cable car this time) are mostly survivable by the aircraft.
