Sentinel and Sentry ac for sale
|
It’s a shame Sentinel is to be broken up for scrap (although there may be ongoing compliance/corrosion issues I’m unaware of). Remove the classified bits and you have an aircraft with a pod and strongpoint underneath, and a separate power system that would be highly suitable for trials of a variety of payloads.
Sad fact is that, given the cost of GLEX parts, they are probably more valuable in $ as spares than as a flying airframe. |
Three out of ten for english
...
Judging by the numerous spelling and other basic errors, I would assume this was a scam. LFH ... |
No, I think it's just the standard of education today.

You can't use "en masse" after 31st. It's a European phrase, and the govt has removed those.

And maybe someone could advise them eejits in MoD and DESA the the plural of aircraft is.................aircraft!! Mind you it could possibly be part of the Americanisation of the English language. Recently our highways department "Signalised" a local road junction instead of installing traffic lights and we now have to go storing as all the things we wish to buy now have been moved out of shops and into stores. Remember shops? it's where you used to go when out shopping.

Cut in some windows and you have the perfect 707s for passenger use with live TV installed already.

The standard of grammar in that document tells you everything you need to know about the Civil Service.

Not my part of the ship so a genuine question, but whilst the E3s are probably being put out of their misery if what I hear is correct, it seems a waste of airframes to break the Sentinels up.
Can’t they be repurposed? Some other ISR platform, C2 / communication, VIP transport (rather than taking an Atlas or a C-17 off line just to move a minister round because he wants his own ac) Or would it just be beyond economic viability? |
How many hours on the frame will they typically have when phased out? Can't be many cycles apart from the fact that they were always "heavy" when landing.

I hope they keep one of each for either Cosford or Duxford?

The costs to rework Sentinel would be greater than buying a secondhand Global Express and doing the same work, so no!

Not a hope. Much cheaper to buy a second hand Global Express.

I hope they keep one of each for either Cosford or Duxford? As for a Global, 2 a penny and nothing noteworthy to look at from the outside. |

Sadly that’s the way of things, I remember before all this crud happening an airline breaking 737’s just over 5 years old and out of warranty as they were worth more as spares than complete aircraft. |
deleted as it was in poor taste

I am guessing that once the IR is finally released that there will be other fleets being disposed of too......Puma/C-130/Hawk?
